Jamie walked straight up to the counter to order a coffee or frappe or whatever she was getting. Her bleached hair swished in its ponytail, and she tucked a loose piece behind her ear.
"Hi can I have a green tea frappe please?" She stuck a hand on her hip and she waited impatiently.
I turned my attention away from her and back to Peyton. She was sipping from her straw, and when she noticed me looking she smiled.
"So. Why did you tell on Jamie if she's your best friend?" I asked curiously, playing with my cup. Peyton shrugged.
"You didn't deserve to be treated that way I guess. No matter who said that to you- it wasn't fair." She replied, her voice lowering as Jamie approached the table.
"Who invited this loser?" She asked, sitting in the seat besides Peyton. Peyton nervously picked at her nails and I glanced away.
"Don't say that Jamie," Peyton warned, her words slicing through the awkward silence and causing Jamie to panic.
"I-I..." She fumbled, scrambling to open her straw wrapper and shove it inside her cup.
"I've had enough of the crap," she said, folding her hands together. "And from now on, I have a rule. If you want to be my friend, you have to be nice to Summer."
Jamie gasped and so did I. Jamie? Be nice to me? I almost laughed. But before I could, my phone buzzed.
Not with a boy I hope? -Matty
I smiled as I typed a message back. I didn't notice Jamie peeking over my shoulder and frowning with annoyance.
Nope. Just Peyton. ;) -Sums
"Jesus Christ Summer!" Jamie yells as people turn to stare at her. She stands up and grabs her frappe and her wallet.
"First you waltz into my freakin' gym like you own the place, then you go and flirt with Carly Manning's boyfriend! What's next? Are you texting our routine to your old coach? Are you making out with a boy from another team? Jesus Summer you're such a bitch! Now stay the hell away from me!" Then she stormed out of the store in a fit, and my mouth literally dropped.
"Holy shit," Peyton says, and she never swears.
