I opened the door, and Eliza stood on my front steps. She looked gorgeous, just as she had a couple days ago, and welcomed me with a hug. Her auburn hair was tightly secured in a bun and she had a braid wrapped around it. She was wearing ripped jeans that she rolled up to look like capris and an adorable yellow lace tank top. On her flats were these tiny little bows, and I was just so jealous of her!

"Hey Summy," she says, wrapping her arms around me. I hug her back, and can't help but notice her hair smells like vanilla.

"Come in Liza," I say, and open the door for her to come in. She walks in with a blush, and notices my mom standing in the kitchen.

"Uh, Mom." I say awkwardly. "This is my friend Eliza." Mom smiles and shakes Eliza's hand.

"So. Any reason why we're headed to the Carnival today girls?" Mom pressed, waiting for an answer.

"We're hoping to get poor Summer's mind off of Peyton and Jamie." Eliza answers with a smile. Mom smiles too and says,

"Well have fun girls! Don't be kissing any boys at the top of the Ferris wheel!" She winked and left us alone at the entrance.

"Well let's go!" Eliza says excitedly, opening the door for me. I laugh and we climb into her car. Eliza plugs her iPhone into her car jack and clicks on her music. The next thing I know, we're jamming to Orange's Worlds music.

"I listen to Worlds music in the car too!" I squeal, laughing. Eliza giggles and we sing the next line together:

"Hey Siri? Where can we find the World Champs?"

Before I know it, we're pulling into the parking lot at the Carnival. Eliza hands the officer a twenty, and pulls into the spot closest to the entrance. We get out of the car and sling our purses over our shoulder. Eliza reminds me that the admission is ten dollars, and I take out my wallet.

We wait in a quick moving line, pay for our tickets, and walk into the carnival. I'm amazed at all the rides and food stands and games thrown into one small place. Eliza squeals and points at something. I laugh when I see a kid walking around with a huge stick of cotton candy, and offer to buy us some.

We race to the cotton candy stand and I buy us each a stick. Eliza is wolfing down the sticky candy and licking her fingers eagerly when I take my first bite. We eat and walk at the same time as we go to get in line for a roller coaster.

Just as we're nearing the front of the line, three blondies and a boy with tousled brown hair get out of the seats, laughing and smiling. It's Jamie and Peyton and Matt and Carly. They continue to walk down the exit ramp until Jamie notices me and points.

There so close now that I can hear their hushed whispers. Out of all the mean things I hear, Peyton's is the one that hits me the hardest:

"Is she walking with... A girl from Spirit?"
