"Hey Summer!" Peyton said happily, practically bouncing over to my car. She was so cheerful all the time, I swear. She was the complete opposite of Jamie who was already mad at me for no reason. I didn't even understand how they could be friends.

I unlocked my car door and climbed out. Then I handed the sticky note to Peyton. At first, she was smiling. But then her brows furrowed with worry, and her lips drew together in a tight line. She handed me back the sticky note a moment later, and her expression said it all. Peyton knew who wrote the note.

"I'm so sorry Summer," she said, tears clouding her blue eyes. She reached out to give me a hug and my heart broke at the sound of her tears.

"I-I promise to talk to her. S-she shouldn't have said that to you," Peyton stuttered, a sob caught in her throat. Now I was the one to hug Peyton and make her feel better.

"But who wrote it Peyton?" I asked, rubbing her back.

She shivered and whispered, "Jamie. Jamie wrote the note." That was enough to make my blood boil. Jamie wrote the note? Jamie had the courage to say that to me on my first day at the gym? And just like that, the rage faded and sadness overtook my body. Soon enough, Peyton and I were crying into each other's shoulders.

And that was the exact moment the door swung open to the gym and Jamie marched out, gasping when she saw me and Peyton. Then she huffed and ran to her car without stopping to talk to either us. And that was how I ended up driving Peyton home, meeting my new best friend, and spending my day at try-outs.

A/N: Ok be honest guys. Are the chapters too short? Because I feel like they are, but I want to end at a cliff hanger to keep the story interesting. So please comment any thoughts or concerns you have!
