I literally gasp out loud. "Peyton what the hell?" I asked, cutting the whole line off and walking up to her. People in front of me complain and yell, but I ignore them. Peyton looks at me and it looks like she's about to smile, but then her face turns back into its usual frown.
"You heard me," she says, tougher than usual. I step back. Matt grabs her arm and pulls her backwards.
"No Matt let me go," she snaps, lunging forwards.
"In case you didn't know newbie, Spirit of Texas is Cheer Athletic's rival. We HATE that gym." She spits it out like its poison. Who is this new Peyton Mabry? The one I know is nice and sweet to everyone. Or knew. I don't really know Peyton anymore. It's almost like she's a totally different person.
"Maybe you should just gym hop for the third time and go to Spirit." Jamie says with a smirk. "Say hi to Cami Branson for me while you're at it. She's another one of those gym hoppers." Jamie winks and tosses her hair over her shoulder.
Peyton turns to give Eliza a once over and says, "So who are you anyways? I definitely haven't seen you on a level five team..."
That's it.
I lunge for Peyton's neck and am just about to grab it when out of nowhere Matt reaches out and stops me. I stop and look into his dazzling eyes, for a moment forgetting about everything.
"Jesus Summer stop," he says, snapping me out of my fantasy. I almost forgot about my huge crush on Matt, but everything came rushing back when I looked into his gorgeous eyes. Matt pulls Peyton and Jamie in the other direction, Carly following close behind them. When I turn to apologize to Eliza about my ex-best friends, she's gone.
