You walk absentmindedly in the empty hallway of your school. It's over twenty minutes since the bell rang so most of the students have left. You were busy with one of your practicals so you had decided to stay over for a while and finish it off. As you go to your locker to take your stuff, you see a guy with headphones leaning against your locker.

When he notices you, he questions-"You're Y/N, right?"

You look at him absolutely surprised. You have recently moved to this place and are naturally new to this school so you don't exactly come in the list of popular people.

"Yes."

"You're good at street dancing, aren't you?" He questions further taking a step closer to you.

"Um," You press your lips in a thin line as wonder how to answer that. You avert your gaze immediately and say-"Nope."

"You're lying." He declares. You feel somewhat uncomfortable under his scrutiny. You are not at all sure what he exactly wants or how he even knows the fact that you do street dancing.

You gulp a huge lump in your throat feeling nervous. You speak hesitantly as you take a step back, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Listen," His tone is softer this time and a lot less demanding. "I saw you last time in the auditorium dancing. And you were amazing. My name's Jae Bum but I go by JB here. I'm the president of the dance club and we are one member short in our group."

You nod trying to take it all in but not liking where this conversation is heading.

"Basically, to put it in simple words, I'm giving you the opportunity of being a member of our club." He sticks out his hand expecting you to shake it.

You stare at him blankly for a moment.

"So . . . ?" He asks stretching the syllable.

You bite your lower lip in nervousness. You shake your head no and say-"Look, I'm sorry but I don't want to be in the group. I'm afraid you've come to the wrong person."

You shrug and he looks somewhat taken aback - as if he wasn't expecting you to reject the offer.

"Fine." He says finally with a sigh and gets out of your way. After you are done taking the books you require you close your locker and are about to leave for your place when JB's voice stops you.

"Y/N, listen. The thing is . . ." His voice trails off. You look at him expectantly waiting for him to continue.

"Do you have some time on your hands?" He asks abruptly.

You look at him confused. "Why?"

"Let's talk."

You roll your eyes and begin-"I really don't want to be the part of the-"

He cuts you off and says, "The decision is yours, of course. If you don't want to be in the group that's okay. But we can at least talk, right?"

You sigh wondering why you have been involuntarily involved in a situation like this.

"Please?" He requests politely.

You finally give in-"Okay. But no matter what you say my decision wouldn't change. So you're just wasting your time. Remember that."

"Whatever you say." He answers with a smirk and you find yourself smiling too.

The two of you walk together outside and he leads you to a nearby café. He orders a cappuccino for himself and you go with peppermint tea.

As you sip on your beverage he says-"So for how long have you been dancing?"

"Not for too long." You answer vaguely.

"That can't be true. I told you I saw you earlier. If you wouldn't have been good enough I would never have offered you a place in our club." He shrugs.

You don't say anything to that.

He continues-"Actually, we have this contest coming up in two weeks. Winning this contest is the dream of every member of our club. We had worked so hard for this one. We had pulled all nighters and challenged our limits. You understand that, right?"

You nod.

"But one of our dancers got injured in the process. He's on crutches at the moment. He used to work so hard day and night. He even worked on the choreography and everything. And now he can't be with us on stage. If we don't find a dancer immediately, we will either have to think of a new choreography or back out of this contest. And none of us have the heart to back off. Really."

You don't meet his gaze and instead just look outside the window. You have got nothing to say to him either.

"May I at least know the reason why you wouldn't join our club?" He interrogates.

You pause for awhile and then answer-"Because I have stage fear. I really don't have the courage to dance in front of so many people."

"That's it?" He questions surprised. "Is that the only reason?"

You just nod.

"Y/N," He says looking straight into your eyes. "You. Are. Missing. Out. On. Such. A. Huge. Opportunity. You understand that?"

You shake your head no. You really don't have the confidence to put up a dance on stage. Neither you have the willpower to perform nor the confidence.

"Look, if you would give yourself a chance then you'll really astound yourself. If it's just fear holding you back, shouldn't you work on it?"

You look at him blankly making it seem as if his words have zero effect on you (though on the inside you're somewhat tempted to say yes).

He sighs and finally says-"You are really firm on your stand, aren't you? Well, I'm not going to take much time of yours then. All I can say is that I want you to think about it thoroughly. Just think about how you're limiting yourself by rejecting an offer like this. And also if possible, just think about the members of our club who have worked day and night for this. Thanks anyway. Here's my number. Call me if you change your mind."

He produces a small slip, hands it to you and leaves. You sit there for a while staring at the number thinking about your meet with JB and the unexpected offer.
