It's been over a week since your last conversation with Mark when you had accidentally confessed to him. After he had revealed his past and rejected you, you had decided to distance yourself from him.
You know it pretty well that you would never be able to get rid of your feelings for him if you would continue to hang out with him. Your feelings for him would only grow and you would just become fonder of him if you continued to see him.
Ever since you stopped meeting him, life seems rather dull to you. You just sit in your room and avoid stepping out of it. All you usually do is think of your time with Mark. Sometimes you wonder - what if Mark would have never heard you and Eunji talk? You probably wouldn't have to say goodbye to him. You didn't think that your time with him would be this short.
By this time, even the other students in the campus have started to figure out that you and Mark are not on talking terms anymore. The rumors have already spread everywhere. And you always feel so angry when you hear people comment about the two of you. You hate it more when they speak carelessly about him. They don't know what actually happened between the two of you so the rumors simply aggravate you.
As you take out your stuff from your locker, a group of girls is standing nearby and talking among themselves.
You hear one of them say to you, "Y/N? What's up with you and Mark these days? You don't spend much time with the bad boy these days? "
The other girls just laugh at the remark.
You clench your fist and reply angrily, "You've got nothing to do with it. So just mind your own business."
"Ooh, fresh scars? Looks like someone hurt our poor Y/N," the girl says laughing along with her posse.
The girl steps near you and says in a menacing tone, "Well, everyone did warn you to stay away from him. You never listened."
With that, the group left. You stand there for a moment trying to calm down your anger. You turn around ready to go to your class when your eyes meet Mark's. You just hope he didn't hear the exchange between you and the other girls. The two of you just stare at each other blankly not saying a single word until you avert your gaze and walk away.
The day passes by in a blur. The classes are pretty boring but you attend all of them nevertheless.
You are more than happy when all your classes get over. As you walk through the hallways, you stop abruptly when you see Mark in a classroom with two other boys. They seem to be engaged in a physical altercation.
You are surprised to see Mark beat the living daylights out of one of the boys while the other guy tries to stop him. Before this, you had never seen this side of his. You hate to think that he could be like this as well. Of course, you had heard rumors about him. He is the infamous bad boy after all. Still, you had never really paid attention to any of them. He had always been so nice to you. Your heart saddens at the sight.
You are about to leave when you hear Mark's angry voice threaten, "Dare say anything trashy about her and I'll break your bones."
Mark takes a step back after letting go of the guy's collar pushing him hard. He falls on the floor but just laughs wiping the streak of blood from his nose and says, "Dude, I didn't think you had it in you to be serious about anyone. I'm impressed."
"Say whatever you want about me but leave Y/N out of it. I'm warning you," Mark says.
The other guy who was earlier trying to stop Mark from hitting his friend notices you standing there. He is like, "Now, aren't you so lucky Y/N? You've got your very own knight in shining armor ready to whisk you away from the harsh reality."
The two guys laugh while Mark turns around at your mention and is surprised to see you standing there. His eyes widen and he seems flustered. He is like, "Y/N, what are you doing here? Let's go."
He makes his way towards you, takes your hand and then drags you outside. He clearly didn't like you watching the confrontation. Once you exit the college building, he asks, "Do you want me to drop you off at your dorm?"
You just nod slowly hoping that the walk would give you a chance to ask him the questions you have in your mind.
He doesn't say a word so you decide to ask, "What was all that before?"
He takes a deep breath and then says, "Y/N, I've been thinking about what happened between us a lot these days. I really, really regret not being able to talk to you anymore. I guess at that time when I had heard you say that you liked me I was scared. I wasn't ready. Whatever I told you back then about my girlfriend and stuff was only the half truth. It is true that she committed suicide and that I loved her very much. But it's been more than two years now. I was broken to the core initially and my healing curve was slow until you showed up. I liked spending time with you. It made me forget everything. You did something to me, Y/N. You still do. When I had heard you say that you had feelings for me I was really scared because I wasn't prepared for it. But in this past week, I've reflected a lot upon us and I've come to realize that somewhere along the lines even I fell for you. Even I have feelings for you, Y/N. And us not being on talking terms is hurting me real bad. I hate to not be able to see you smile or hear you talk. I've been missing you like crazy. And it's in this past week I finally realized maybe I love you too."
You are speechless hearing Mark say all this. You had honestly thought that you would never get a chance to even talk to Mark after your accidental confession. You look at him and smile. You say, "I can't believe you are saying all this."
He shrugs and takes a step closer to you caressing your cheek. "So what do you say?"
"Kiss me."
His hand sneaks down your waist and pulls you closer as he leans in to kiss you.
