Chapter Thirteen- Aftermath

Lights.

Noises.

Pain.

That is what I'm feeling right now. There are lights in my face, loud noises all around me, and pain shooting through my body. I don't know if I can handle it.

I feel myself slipping away.

Slipping... away...

The whole scene plays out in my head. I feel myself waking up again, and I hear voices. Who's voices are they? I pick up a woman's voice and a boys voice. I also hear a stern man. I try to talk to them, but its like there is a block in the way. I listen to the voices, recognising them. Jai- my boyfriend, and his mum.

I try to speak, and it comes out in a whisper.

"Jai..." I whisper.

I hear Jai's mum kind of scream and start saying 'oh my god'. I hear Jai's voice telling me it's okay, and he loves me. I tell I love him back.

The stern mans voice starts again.

"Now Gem, can you wriggle your toes?" He asks.

I mentally focus on my toes and try to move them. It works.

"Wonderful. Can you move you hips?"

I move my hips.

"Can you move your fingers?"

I move my fingers.

"Can you move your shoulders?"

They move.

"Can you move your head and open your eyes?"

I can't.

I focus on moving my head and neck, but they don't move. Something is stopping me from opening my eyes. I started to panic.

"I-I can't open my eyes or move my head." I say shakily.

"I'm trying but I can't. What's happening? Why can't I move?" I say, starting to whimper. I feel someone put their hand around mine.

"Um, it's gonna be okay Gem. You're alright." Jai tells me nervously.

The doctor speaks up.

"Don't worry Gem. It was a miracle that you woke up! It may take your body a few hours to function properly, then you will be able to open your eyes."

I calm down.

"Oh, okay, thankyou." I say.

"And what do you mean it was a miracle I woke up? How long was I unconscious?" I ask.

"Well, you weren't just unconscious. You were in a coma." The doctor says.

I gasp.

"How long was I in a coma?" I ask, afraid of the answer.

"Well..." Jai begins.

"Please just tell me." I say.

"You were in a coma for nine days."
