•chapter 12•
Miranda's POV
"Hey, you okay? You seem kind of out of it," Kelly said from beside me.
"Yeah, I'm fine just a little tired," I lied.
I am currently at the lunch table seated with everyone, minus Stella. Apparently she had an emergency cheer practice.
To say it was very awkward between Kevin and I, would be an understatement. Kelly and Zach seemed to be the only ones that noticed the tension between us. Mikaela was just happily chatting with Ryan.
"I can tell that there's something wrong with you and Kevin, and you're gonna tell me after lunch, okay?" She whispered.
"Yes, mom." I obeyed, earning an eyeroll in reply.
"What's going on guys?" Zach asked, while looking between Kevin and I.
"What do you mean?" Mikaela asked.
She was clueless.
"I'm talking about Miranda and Kevin, don't you notice the tension?" Zach asked, popping a fry into his mouth, while earning a glare from me. Could he be anymore blunt? I'm gonna kill him.
To occupy myself, I continued to munch on my cheeseburger.
"Nothing," Kevin vaguely stated. He snuck a glance at me before quickly averting his gaze.
Unbelievable.
"No one's leaving the table until one of you tell us what's wrong, so spill," Mikaela finalized. She's always like this.
"Don't you guys hate it when people defend someone they don't give a shit about?" I asked out of the blue. Everyone looked confused.
Except for Kevin, who was glaring daggers at me.
"Don't you guys hate it when people walk off before you can give them a chance to explain?" Kevin fired back.
What the hell?! I did not just walk off!
Okay maybe I did, but that's only because he was making me really angry and I just wanted to get away from him.
"Wouldn't you guys hate to have a neighbor who acts like an asshole? Scratch that, he's not acting like an asshole, he is one," I shot back.
If looks could kill, I would definitely be six feet under.
"Wouldn't you guys hate living next door to a bitch?" Kevin continued.
Okay, that hurt.
"Okay, guys that's enough jeez!" Kelly yelled.
I forgot they were all here because I was only focused on the jackass that was sitting in front of me. It seems like Kevin forgot that they were here too, because he decided to continue.
"Now I see why Stella doesn't like you," Kevin stated.
Okay, now that one really hurt.
His comment actually left me speechless.
Shocking, right?
I could feel tears stinging my eyes, as the hole in my chest got bigger. I stopped glaring at him and looked down at my lunch. My appetite dissapeared and I just really wanted to get out of here.
"Uhm, I'm not hungry anymore," I quietly stated, before grabbing my phone and speed walking out of the cafeteria.
☆☆☆
After a really long day, I was finally home. When I ran out of the cafeteria, I didn't really feel like going to class. So I went to the nurse's office and told her I had a "headache", so she let me sleep it off for the rest of the day.
