"Okay, what about I'll just call my mom and ask to pick us up and stay there for a bit" Sean says, getting his phone from his pocket.
"Yeah sure that'll do" I replied as I furrowed in confusion. "Where will we stay though?" I added.
"At my house, if that's alright" Sean says, with his phone in his ear
I nodded in response.
***
"So how did it go?" Mrs.Lew asks, as Sean opens the car door and lets me enter first, following behind me, he closed it shut.
"It went great!" Sean announced, as I looked at him in confusion.
"But we had change of plans" I whispered, making sure enough Mrs.Lew wouldn't be able to see me whisper or at least, hear me whisper.
"Pretend" Sean whispers back
"Fine" I replied, rolling my eyes playfully.
"How did it go, Anne?" Mrs.Lew asks, staring into the loud beeping noises of the vehicles.
"It went great, the food tastes good too!" I replied, looking at Sean with a grin on his face
"Oh, that's good to hear. What did you guys get?" Mrs.Lew asks us
I looked at Sean, trying to get a signal from him to answer.
"Uh.. We ate some sweet and sour pork with mashed potatoes" Sean answers, looking at me with two thumbs up and a wide grin.
"Oh, and I got the same thing" I replied, looking at Sean, I felt a soft laugh escape, as I face palmed.
As we were in the middle of a conversation, Sean immediately noticed that I wasn't wearing my seatbelt.
"Why aren't you wearing your seatbelt?" Sean asks
"Oh, right. Sorry I'm still not used to this transitioning thing here in a different state" I replied
"How'd you say so?" Sean asks
"Well, in our country wearing a seatbelt isn't really required, well for some people. Unless you're in the front seat you're required to wear a seatbelt." I replied
"That's odd" Sean says
----
"Were here!" Mrs.Lew says, removing her buckled up seatbelt.
I got up and unlocked the door, and pushed it slowly.
"Well, thank you" Sean says
I chuckled.
"Anyways, today you're going to meet my dog" Sean greets
"As in, your dog Oreo?!" I asked, as I grinned in excitement.
"Wait, how'd you know about her?" Sean asks, As he furrowed his eyebrows in complete confusion.
"Well, I uh.." I stuttered
"Im hungry so the thought of oreos came up to me!" I lied, looking down at my feet as I felt myself heating up from embarrassment.
"Really, huh?" Sean asks
"Yes!" I answered, trying to conceal the most embarrassing excuse I have ever made.
"Well then, if you say so" Sean replies, as a laugh escapes from his mouth.
"Oreo!" Sean chants, as he opens the door.
I followed, behind him and closed the door carefully.
A black and white patterned dog came running down from the stairs, as she jumps from its hind legs. Sean began cuddling her, and I can say Oreo felt pleased.
"Can I hold her?" I asked, kneeling on the carpet of their living room.
"Yeah sure" Sean replies, carrying Oreo back down, carefully.
"Hi!" I greeted Oreo, as I stroked her back.
I then, cuddled her. And she sure was cuddly. All I can think of was how lucky she was. And she sure did look like an Oreo, with those colors. You're one lucky dog.
