Chapter 2
The sound of her alarm woke Roan up. She climbed out of bed and slipped on her clothes. She could hear her parents downstairs and was about to go down when she remembered...Liam! She went across the landing and knocked on his door.
"Come in." He said quite weakly. She walked in and he was sat, fully dressed on his bed.
"My parents haven't seen you have they?" She asked. He shook his head and she breathed a sigh of relief. "Now after lying to me they will have to let you stay, if you want to of course."
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Couldn't be more certain, it would be nice having someone my age that understands me." She said. He smiled and they went downstairs. She went into the kitchen with Liam following her.
"Who's this?" Heather asked pointing a spoon at Liam.
"How rude mother, don't point!" Roan snapped at her. "This is Liam and he's joining our pack for the time being." She said.
"I'm sorry, but who put you in charge?" Bill asked.
"Look I'm not the one that lies to their only child. You told me that Breathing Spirits like us were in power, but we aren't!" Roan shouted.
"Easy Roan." Liam hissed putting his hand on her shoulder. She ignored him.
"You aren't in charge of me anymore and can't tell me what to do. I know there is much more that you have kept from me...when were you going to tell me?"
"You let a stranger in here?" Heather asked ignoring Roan.
"Excuse me, you aren't even listening! You lied to me! Liam needed help last night and he needed a friend. He is no stranger because he is one of us. I trusted him which is more then I could say for you. I was there and I helped him which is what a real pack does!" Roan shouted.
"All right Roan calm down, he can stay." Bill said.
"Thank you." She breathed out and left the room and Liam followed.
"Look I don't want to make you and your family fall out..." He began.
"No it's fine, they need to learn to trust me. You're part of us now, for as long as you want to be. Right now I need to get to school so I suggest you talk to my parents. They're not as scary as they look." She promised. She then went back into the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl. "Talk to him because right now he needs us." She then pushed Liam into the kitchen and left for school. Liam sat down at the table.
"I'm sorry...er... Liam?" Bill said.
"It's no problem." He said.
"Why you here then?" He asked as he put a glass of Processed Spirit onto the table. "Sorry its all we drink."
"it's fine, i refuse to drink anything else." Liam said, to Bill's surprise. Liam then explained how he had run away and why.
"Well you certainly came to the right pack, by the way we only have Vegetarian Spirit bottles and if you go around devouring humans in this village, you wont be here for much longer." Heather warned as she then put some bacon and fresh loaf on a plate for him.
"It's fine, as I said, it was what I used to drink at home, I don't ever want to devour human, it's wrong. Anyway moving on, how much have you told Roan? She was really upset last night, I heard her crying." Liam said. Heather was impressed by Liam. He hadn't said much about his background, but it must have been hard for him. She sighed at his question and looked him in the eye.
