Chapter 23
When Liam, Jake and Roan got back Jake quickly legged it up stairs and Roan and Liam went into the dining room to find Lewis and Darren sat at the table.
"Where have you been?" Lewis asked.
"Having a good time because we're teenagers and that's what we do." Liam snapped sitting on the sofa. Roan curled up next to him and he put his arm round her. Lewis ignored it.
"Look Liam, something came through the post after you left." Darren explained.
"What?" Liam asked.
"This." Lewis slid the letter across the table and Roan looked at Liam. She went over to it and picked it up. The envelope was a royal blue and the writing on the front was written in neat joined handwriting. It was big, clear and almost unreal. The top of the envelope was ripped open. She sat back down at Liam's side and handed him the letter. He opened it and they both read it:
Dear Lewis,
I'm sure you're working hard with your three offspring to train them up and make them the perfect leaders. I admire you for this. My name is George Meat and I am head of the government of the Breathing Spirits. I am sure all of you are trying hard to find your missing part and I'm sure you will discover them soon. If you don't I'm afraid we will start to fallout and it will be a fight that we are not going to lose. I would like you to host a gathering or a party to bring anyone you fancy along. You will include myself and five other members of my team on your guest list. I would like the three to make a speech in front of everyone on what they plan to do in the future. I hope all goes well and I'm sure they wont make mistakes. I hope to see the invitations in the next couple of days.
George Meat
B.S Government
Liam was lost for words as he looked up at his father.
"That isn't enough time." He said eventually.
"Tell us something we don't know." Hazel snapped as she walked in. She had her hair plaited down on one side and wasn't wearing high heels, instead she wore the lace up boots she wore to school. Roan didn't think it the time to tease her about it right at that moment.
Jake came in just after Hazel spoke.
"What's happened?" He asked. Liam handed him the letter and he read it. Jake rubbed his eyes as he side the letter back in the envelope and dropped it onto the table.
"Well we can't just sit here." He said. "We have a party to organise."
"We shall make it a formal dress code with dresses and suits. We need a guest lists of old and new friends and we need Human spirits and Weakness to drink." Hazel added getting up.
"We have the rest of the day to get the invitations written and sent out. Let's get some and get writing." Liam said. "Roan can you nip into the town with Darren and get some invites while the rest of us find addresses and people to invite." Liam asked. Roan nodded and she and Darren got up and went into the hall. He took her wrist in his left hand and they appeared outside a little café in the centre of the small town. His hand was cold when he touched her and it gave her Goosebumps. He let go of her and looked around.
"We need a card shop." He said.
"There's one not far away. Come on." She tugged his sleeve and they walked, hands stuffed in pockets, to the little card shop. It was a really sweet little shop with all sorts of pretty invitations. They went inside and had a good looked around. There were all sorts of designs, but in the end they found ones of plain blue and plain red. They would have to do.
