Chapter 6

Roan awoke in her human form lying uncomfortably on the floor. She was right next to Liam and her parents were on the other side of the room. Smiling with relief she rolled onto her back, t had gone better then she had planned. She was now a true Breathing Spirit! Next come the tutors and the powers, but she would worry about that later, right now she was enjoying the moment. Lying on her back she watched the sun rise through the trees. As she lay there Liam woke up and turned to face her.

"Well this is comfy." He whispered to her. She laughed quietly at him. "All right?" He asked. She nodded.

"That was great! As much as I hate what I am, a black panther really isn't that bad an animal." She said.

"It's a great animal and it suits you....sleek and sexy" He winked. She smirked, hitting him and sat up slowly, she turned and looked at her parents were still fast asleep.

"Lazy." She sniffed as she got up and had a mooch around. She was only looking, no harm in that! She opened a couple of files on the desk. Liam sauntered to where she was sat and looked over her shoulder. The file was full of details of Breathing Spirits. Their names, dates of births and some of them even death dates.

"Roan, put the book down please." Bill said as he slowly sat up.

"What is it?" She asked.

"Nothing you need to worry about, so get your nose out." Bill said. He sounded stern and almost cross.

"No, not until you tell me what it is and why you have it." She stubbornly shut the book and held it close to her. "It has a lot of people's information in it."

"Roan give me the book!" He shouted.

"Bill calm down." Heather grabbed her husbands shoulder as she woke from her sleep. Feeling scared Roan threw the book and it landed in front of her father.

"I hate it when you do this!" She shouted at them. "You never tell me anything and all you do is lie! Who does that to their own child! I'm sick of it, so leave me alone and stay away from me!" She then pressed the big red button and the door came down. She stormed up it, shut it and began to run. She didn't know where she was going, but she didn't stop for anything. Hot tears ran down her cheeks and she started sobbing as she sprinted in between the looming trees.

Half an hour later she stopped and sat underneath a tree. She was breathing heavily and her eyes were stinging from crying. She wiped her eyes and hugged herself for comfort more then anything. She never noticed the hooded figure watching her, until he spoke.

"Having trouble?" He asked in a deep voice. Roan looked up with a jerk and stared at the new arrival.

"I don't..."

"Talk to strangers? I know. You're a very intelligent girl Roan, don't let that go to waste."

"How do you know my name?" She asked getting to her feet.

"I would go home if I were you. Your missed."

"No one misses me."

"Oh believe me Roan, your parents love you and I would stay with them as long as you can, you never know when it is the last time you will ever see them." He said.

"What have you done to my family?" She asked.

"Nothing." The man put up his hands and even though she couldn't see his face, she knew somehow that he was telling the truth.

"Leave me alone." She said turning away from him and running. He didn't even try to follow.

Evening came and Liam, Bill and Heather had been waiting all day for Roan to come home. They didn't want to follow her, but it was starting to get dark and they were all really worried. They were about to send out a search party after calling both Robin and Aimee when the front door opened and banged shut. Roan stormed into the living room and straight through to the kitchen.
