(In general for the whole series and before)

I watched her play around with him, both teasing the other, causing the other to bark out a laugh. Her blue eyes shone like sapphires, filled with mischief and light that I had missed after she had killed that Dark Force. Her whole coat shone in the sunlight while she started to stalk towards her friend.

A chuckle escaped my lips when my sister pounced on her friend, causing him to yelp out in fright. I watched as they played more together, Martha usually getting the upper hand over her friend.

A shadow flashed past me and jumped onto my little sister, causing me to stand quickly with a growl. Laugher and a yelp filled the air, causing me to relax the fur at the back of my neck. The all familiar sight of my youngest brother and Martha's twin helped me relax even more because I knew that she wasn't in danger.

Someone chuckled behind me, causing me to to turn around to see our Alpha, Faolon. Amusement filled his eyes while I bowed my head towards him. "I am guessing your protective instinct took over," he said, nodding his head in greeting.

I nodded my head. "It happens," I replied, remembering all the times that I wanted to protect Martha from when she was doing karate. I turned my head towards my siblings and watched as they play with each other, before turning on Jason and jumping on him.

"Sit," Faolon commanded, causing me to turn my head to see that he was sitting down beside me. He watched as I moved next to him sat down, getting settled in my spot. He turned to watch my sister, staying silent for a bit before turning to look back at me. "You care about her," he, finally, said.

I nodded my head. "She is my sister, after all," I replied.

He hummed and looked towards her. "Almair's have Protectors, John," he said. He turned his head and looked at me, studying my body and gaze. "Have you realized that you would be her Protector?" he asked.

I nodded. "I have," I replied in all honesty. "If you do not recall, I was one of the younger ones that were allowed in this backyard because of what I mean to Martha."

Faolon nodded, not saying a word.

We stayed silent and watched ass both Jason and Brody jumped onto martha causing her to growl before letting out a bark of laughter. This caused both of them to have barks of laughter as well, causing me to smile.

"You might die," he said, finally. "Do you think that you can live with that?"

I mulled over his words. I knew that one day I was going to die protecting Martha. I knew that I might not get a happy ending or settle down and make a family of my own. However, I couldn't seem to care if I never got my happy ending. I would be all right if Martha got one, and I knew that my death would be all right.

So, with a clear mind and hopeful heart, I nodded my head. "Yes," I said. "I can live with that."
