~Flashback~
Rose sits on the counter, swaying her legs back and fourth. She sighs and jumps off, hearing her shoes hit the floor. He was supposed to be here, where was he?
"I'm sure he's finishing up work...." She said quietly to herself. He promised to take her to see outside the lab, since she was there for so long. She wondered what it felt like to be outside. Would she ever get to meet the other monsters?
As a kid growing up, She was loved by the scientist. He thought of her as a daughter he never had.
She fell into the hole, thinking things wouldn't turn out alright. She found such nice people. They cared for her, gave her all the kindness they could give. It was overwhelming, but the small child soon got used to it.
She's read about the surface, and oh how she wants to see it so badly. She still kept that dream and held onto it. She would talk to Gaster, also known as the Royal Scientist, about what she would do to help unbound the Monsters one day.
"Now now Rose, Don't think ahead of yourself. I don't want you getting hurt." Gaster said, pouring weird chemicals into a beaker.
"But I want to help!" She whines, stomping her feet.
"You can help me by giving me that test tube over there." He smiles, pointing to a tray with some test tubes filled with a black liquid. Rose skips over, grabbing the test tube, a confused look on her face while staring at the liquid.
"What's this?" Rose gives it to Gaster, watching him pour the substance into the beaker as well.
"How about you go and play outside while I do my work, How does that sound?" He bends down, dodging Rose's question.
"Okay..." She walks out of the room, hearing the door close gently behind her.

Rose hums while playing with a stuffed animal. She remembers a faint memory of her 4th birthday. Her mother gave it to her as a gift, and she started bringing it everywhere.
"I miss her..." Rose felt a tear fall down her cheek. Gaster comes out and finds Rose crying.
"What's wrong Rose?" He wiped the tears off her cheek.
"I miss my family.." She hugs Gaster, sobbing into his shoulder.
"It's alright. I'm here for you, I promise."He patted her back, trying to comfort her.

"Wow! Look at this place! It's huge!" She held onto Gaster's hand. His cold bony fingertips brush against her palm.
"Yes. Indeed it is." Rose peeks out of her gigantic magenta scarf. They were currently in Snowdin, taking a look around.
"Come get your nice cream! It's only 15G!" The nice cream guy announces from a large group of monsters.
"Can we go get some?" Gaster nods and walks them over to the nice cream stand.
"Hello! Would you like some nice cream?" He smiles, getting a scoop of nice cream.
"Yes please!" Rose takes the nice cream from Gaster as they walk over to an empty bench.
