Chapter 14- Punch

Zanes POV

Aphmau and I sat in the tree in the woods. I had brought ice with me, because i felt so horrible about Aphmau taking a punch for me. The Shadow Knights pick on me a lot, which also results in getting beat up.

"How often do they hurt you Zane?" Aphmau asks, concern laced into every word she spoke. I think of my choice of  words.

"Well they bully me everyday, and that results in them beating me up whenever they feel like it." I say cautiously. Aphmau gasps, and hugs me tight.

"Im so sorry Zane. I wish i could do something to help." She says, choking up.

"Aphmau, you've already helped me. You took a punch for me, which i wish i could have prevented, and you are my friend. Thats helping me enough." I replied, pulling out of the hug. Aphmau was tearing up a bit, making my heart pound harder in my chest. I Instantly regret pulling out of the hug.

"But i didn't really do anything. But if you're happy, im happy." Aphmau stated, wiping away tears. I brought the ice pack up to Aphmaus eye. And for some reason, she started shaking.

"Why are you shaking?" I questioned her. She looked to her feet, tears pooling in her eyes again.

"I have a sensitive eye, lets just say that this isnt the first time ive been punched." Aphmau whispered. Her voice cracked meaning she was holding back tears. I placed my hand under her chin, and gently lifted her face to look at mine. I set the ice on her eye and moved my other hand on hers. She stopped shaking.

"When are you punched?!" This time it was my turn to be concerned. Aphmau looked away.

"Its not important." Aphmau mumbled. I looked at her in shock.

"Of course it's important! You're important!" Aphmau looked at me in shock and began crying.

"Thank you Zane. Thank you so much." Aphmau said, hugging me again.

"So who punches you?" I ask again. This time im going to fix my mistake and hug her for as long as possible.

"Can I please just tell you some other time?" Aphmau begged. I looked at how sad she was and nodded my head.

"Alright. But i WILL find out eventually."
