Chapter 33- Promise

Zanes POV 

"Zane Ro'Meave?" I looked up at the doctor who called my name. I was anxiously waiting in the waiting room when for the longest time. 

"Well it was a close call, but we worked quickly and she'll be alright. She's still unconscious, but she'll be waking up soon. Would you like to see her?" The doctor asked. I nodded vigorously and got up to follow him to Aph's room.  

"I'll give you two some alone time." The doctor said and left me alone in front of a door. Taking a deep breath, I twist the handle and walk in. 

I gasp at how pale she is and take a seat next to her hospital bed. Instinctively I grab her hand and just pray. I pray that she won't be so depressed when she gets up, I pray that she won't be in pain, I pray that I broke Gene's nose when I punched him, and I pray that we can live happily ever after.

"Z-Zane?" I look up at Aphmau, after sitting there for who knows how long, thinking Irene that she woke up. 

"Aph..." I choke out. The minute I hear her voice I'm sent back to tears. 

"Don't... Don't cry. Please." She mumbled, bringing the hand I'm not holding to my face, wiping my tears away.  

"How can I not cry!? You... You almost left me! I would have been so lost without you... Promise me, promise me that you will NEVER try anything like that EVER again." I sob. Aphmau looks down, not answering. 

"Promise me! I love you Aphmau! And I will not lose you to anything! Not to someone else, not to your depression, not to anything! We can work through this! We will! Just promise me!" I sob desperately.

Aphmau sits up and grabs my face in her hands. Gently, she presses her lips against mine. 

"I promise."
