Chapter 24- Little Game

Aphmaus POV

"I hope I can study enough for the math test. Maybe I should read up on the formulas with Zane?" I mumbled to myself as I walked to the library. Zane and I were going to study together today to prepare for the math test we have tomorrow. We dont have the same class period, but we have the same teacher. The streets were empty, though I wasnt sure if it was due to the early hour, or the cold temperatures.

I felt oddly at peace watching the snow fall around me, like little fairies dancing in the moonlight. I stopped for just a moment to enjoy the moment when a freezing chunk of ice came into contact with my face. I was nocked on my butt which sent my books flying deep into the alley behind me. I looked around for where the ice could have come from, but I saw no one. Sighing, I set my backpack down so I could go into the dark alleyway to collect my books. As I leaned down to pick one up, I noticed blood dripping down my face. I put a hand to my forehead and felt the red liquid oozing out. I cringed, and turned to where I had set my backpack. There in the faint light, stood my nightmare.

Ivy and Gene.

"Well look what we have here Gene! Lets play a little game with the mouse we found!" Ivy laughed. Gene smirked and walked up to me. Slowly, I backed up to the alley wall, but it was no use, Genes fist still smashed into my jaw and sent me to the ground. Ivy walked up next, and kicked me in the side rapidly, using her heel. She continued kicking as Gene grabbed my neck. My eyes widened as I could barely breathe.

"Why arent you and your lousy boyfriend dead yet?" He whispered to me. Seeing as they had referred to Zane as my boyfriend before, I assumed they meant him.

"Leave.... Zane...... alone." I murmured, as Ivy began to punch me.

"Why should we? We are going to hunt him down once we're done with you, and give him the same treatment." Gene smirked. My vision was becoming blurry and red, though I wasn't sure if that was due to the lack of oxygen or blood.

"Za.....ne....." I whispered, not able to form a complete sentence even in my mind. Gene and Ivy laughed as I blacked out.

~Later~

Everything is blurry. I cant move. I cant breathe. It feels like I don't exist. Maybe I don't.

"Aphmau!" I hear from a distance. The person sounds worried. I try to get to the person, but I cant.

"Aphmau!" I hear, as the voice gets closer. Once again, I try to move but I'm unable.

"Aphmau!" The person, who I can now identify as Zane, sounds so close. Im scared, and just want to hold him and know everything is going to be ok.

"Aphmau!?" Zane screams. He sounds like he is now right over me. I cant talk, so I just lay there. My eyes start to close.

"NO! Aphmau you have to stay with me! PLEASE!" Zane sobs. I try, but my eyes shut.

This.... what happened in my dream.... Zane.... please be safe....
