Justin's POV
Myself and Delilah were sitting in the hospital room and I just felt like my whole world has come crashing down. I just hope Demi pulls through. If she does pull through, I want her to know that I'm still for her and so is Delilah. A doctor entered the room.
"Any news?" I said standing up, looking at the doctor. He looked really serious.
"Yes Mr Bieber, Demi overdosed in pills in an attempt to kill herself from what I understand." He said tapping his clipboard.
I nodded my head.
"And we had to do a stomach pump, where we try to get all the drugs out of her stomach."
"Is she going to pull through, Doc?" Delilah quietly asked.
"That I don't know, we still need to go over some tests and then we'll come back and tell you more." the doctor said, jotting small notes down on his clipboard.
"Alright." Delilah replied, nodding her head.
"You can see her now, but I'm not sure how responsive she'll be, we gave her some medication to put her to sleep for a little while, she might wake up, you never know, you two can give it a go."
"Thank you Doc." Delilah and I said in unison. The doctor nodded his head and left. We just sat in silence and watched Demi.
Why? Why would Demi do this? Demi's been fine up to this point, then all of a sudden she just snapped and tried to end her life. I glanced at her, she didn't look like herself. She looked so fragile and vulnerable. The constant beeping from machinery was all that filled the tiny room.
My eyes were just watering, tears falling as they pleased and I didn't even attempt to wipe any of them away. This moment was so sad, so damn hard.
"Don't you dare leave me Demi. This is not it!" I held onto her hand, never letting go.
The words were broken as I said them, trying to let Demi know, even though she couldn't really hear me, how heartbreaking it was to even say it out loud. I barely move a muscle looking at Demi, and I had just been rambling words I couldn't even make out as I prayed Demi would make it through.
"Please Demi, please......come back to me, stay with me. This isn't it. This isn't goodbye. No, not today Dems, not ever."
But she wouldn't move, her body was completely still. I couldn't bare to look anymore so I looked at my daughter, sitting right next to me. She had a small frown, a single tear slowly fell down her cheek, but wiped it quickly once she looked up at me.
"I just hope she pulls through, Dad...Joseph's death was hard enough to get over, I don't even know how I'm gonna cope if Mom-"
"Delilah, stop right there. Your mom isn't going to die, she's gonna wake up anytime now, I know she will...I can just feel it."
Myself and Delilah waited for hours, only getting up to get the occasional drink or to use the toilet. I just wish she'd open her eyes.
"Wanna get a bite to eat, Del? You must be hungry, you haven't eaten anything since morning." I softly spoke.
"Sure." she replied standing up and followed her out the room.
We got back from getting some food and the doctor was already in the room, looking at the heart rate monitors and checking her pulse.
"I'm sorry, but it doesn't look like she is going to make it." the doctor informed us.
"What?" Delilah said with such pain in her eyes.
"Her pulse is very weak and she's still unresponsive. I'll give her an hour and a half and see if there is any progress, but once the hour and a half is up, if there has been no change, it is likely never going to change." The doctor said before leaving the room quietly. No. No. NO. This can't be happening. An hour went past and Delilah and I were still sitting there, staring at Demi. I saw her eyes slowly open. She was just laying there, barely conscious. I smiled as much as I could.
"Hey Mom." Delilah said to her.
"How are you feeling baby?" I asked as I kissed her lips.
"P-Painkillers have n-numbed the pain. Now I'm j-just ti-tired." Her voice was just a whisper. I tightened the grip on her hand ever so slightly.
"Please d-on't look at me l-like that." Demi told him.
"What?" I asked confused.
"L-Like you're about to c-cry. I d-don't want to think about w-what's ha-happening." A tear trickled down her face. My thumb wiped it away. I decided I'd change the topic and Demi talked about tons of different things, slowly getting back her voice. I told Demi about all the funny things that's happened to me over a period of time. But soon I started to doze off. I opened my eyes again at the sound of footsteps approaching the room. My father came in.
"I'll stay with her tonight. You guys go on and get some rest, you need it." I told my dad.
"Thank you." He said as he kissed me on the cheek and walked away.
I sat staring at Demi and started tearing up again. Soon my eyes were dry and my eyelids were heavy and I ended up falling asleep.
Hours later I was woken by Delilah shaking my shoulder and beeping coming from the machine hooked up to Demi. Flat line.
"Help! Help!" I screamed out the door. "Come on, Demi. Pull through, baby. Come on!" I squeezed her little hands.
"Sir, Miss, you need to leave." The nurse said as she and several other nurses ran in to the room. The doctor soon followed. I had no idea what they were doing but they had out all sorts of things in their hands and were yelling out all sorts of terms I didn't understand. Tears streamed down my face as I watched them frantically move around the bed, grabbing emergency equipment in an attempt to save my poor baby.
