Demi's POV
It was one of our stay at home days and we were going to have a romantic dinner date. Joseph was at his best friend's house and Delilah was spending the night with some friends, so we had the house all to ourselves. We let our kids have freedom but we don't let them run wild everywhere so that's a good thing.
As I sat down to dinner, Justin leaned over the table and kissed me lightly, then his phone went off. He glanced down and frowned, dragging his thumb across the screen and answering it.
"Del, what's up?...What the hell?!...Delilah Devonne Bieber, I have the right mind to leave you there!...No!... No way we'll be there in a half hour." He hung up the phone, took the napkin out of his lap and stood up.
"Come on, Demi. It's Delilah...I'll tell you in the car."
I walked out of the house worried, and slide into the passenger seat.
"Delilah's at the police station. She got caught spray painting a wall downtown."
I scoffed. I can't believe this girl. The friends that she's hanging out with are a bad influence.
"Damn it, Justin! I thought we raised her better than that!"
"We did, which is why I'm so ticked off!" Justin said stepping on the accelerator a little more.
The rest of the drive there and back to our house was dead silent, we had picked up Joseph from his friends house and Delilah was just sitting stone faced next to him for the return trip. Joseph didn't dare open his mouth to say anything.
As soon as I set foot through the front door, Justin turned on Delilah and Joseph brushed past and headed upstairs.
"Delilah Devonne Bieber! What the hell were you thinking?! Your mother and I raised you to respect other people's property, not to vandalize it. You're really lucky the shop owner didn't press charges and only made you clean it up. You're supposed to be setting a good example for your brother. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"I don't know, Dad. I was just having some fun, it's not a big deal." she said without a care in the world. I was just taken aback by the way she said it. No apology, nothing.
"It is a big deal, Delilah, it's the law!" I said harshly.
"Go to your room. We aren't done discussing this." Justin said annoyed, sighing in defeat and sat down at the dining room table as Delilah's loud moaning and angry footsteps stomped up the stairs. I went to sit on his lap, running my fingers through his hair and said, "We raised her right. I have faith in us."
"So I do." he replied calmly rubbing his temples.
"I still can't believe she would do something like this J, she's usually so responsible! I honestly don't even know what's gotten into her." I said annoyed. Justin nodded agreeing with me.
"I'mma go talk to her." Justin said trying to keep calm.
We went upstairs to Delilah's room and I knocked on her door.
I heard a harsh "Nooo what do you want?" on the other side of the door.
I cleared my throat, "Delilah open the door."
"Why should I?" she replied sounding upset.
"Because your father and I just wanna talk to you and sort all of this out."
"Ugh fine..." We heard her reply. I smiled at Justin and rubbed his back when the door flew open.
Delilah went to go sit on her bed and Justin sat beside her. I closed the door behind me.
I sat on the bed on the other side of Delilah and she was just looking down at her lap fiddling with her fingers.
"Delilah, why would do that?" Justin asked in a quiet tone.
She continued to fiddle with her fingers not replying to him.
"Answer my question." He said sternly and her head shot up.
"I just wanted to have fun, Dad."
"Having fun is not spray painting someone's wall and disobeying the law. Having fun is not chatting back to your parents. Having fun is not being so rebellious. Having fun for a example is when you're having a laugh with friends and not getting into trouble."
She nodded her head. I think it was finally getting into her head now. I hope.
"You understand, don't you?" I asked looking at her, a small smile on her face. She nodded her head again at the both of us.
"We love you Delilah." Justin said pulling me and Delilah closer together for a group hug.
"I love you too guys, I'm sorry." Her mood brightened a bit. It's good that she apologised but she still has to pay the price for what she did.
"Your mother and I aren't gonna let you off that easy." Justin said to her.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean your phone's being confiscated."
"Wait, WHAT?! But Dad, that's so not fair!" she said, her eyes widening. "Mom, DO SOMETHING!" she pointed at me.
"Delilah, listen to your father. Phone please." I said sternly.
"But...but...Mom I-"
"No buts." I stretched my hand waiting for the phone to be placed in my hand.
She rolled her eyes at me and put the phone in my hand.
"Thank you." Justin said.
"Don't mention it." she said in a saracastic tone fake smiling.
"Keep giving us attitude, you're just adding on to the punishment so I wouldn't push it if I were you, Del." Justin pointed out. I couldn't agree more. It's for the best right now.
"You'll thank us later. Love you." I said getting up and holding Justin's hand heading towards the door.
"Love you too." Delilah mumbled, her head buried in her pillow.
Justin let me go out first and shut the door behind us.
"Don't worry Dems, I think we did the right thing." he whispered placing his forehead on mine.
"I know. We're getting there."
"Definitely." he flashed his perfect pearly whites and gave me a tight hug. Just what I needed after dealing with all this.
