The fire-extuniguishing suit arrived and I was finally liberated from the errupting flames my body produced.
"So, how do you like it?" Zatanna asked, looking at her own reflection in the mirror as I adjust my boots to fit comfortably on my feet.
"It's cool, but a little scratchy" I say. Besides the scratchiness, the suit was entirely red, except for the yellow fire symbol on the front and a swishy red cape that was way too long for my average height stature.
"You'll get used to it, we all do" she replies, "C'mon, let's show you off to the team!"
Zatanna pulls me out of the huge walk in closet that she had in her room and into the eyes of my teammates, Artemis, Wally, Megan, Kaldur and Robin.
"Ta-da!" I say with no confidence and pure anxiety. I wasn't big on fashion shows, or being in the center of attention.
Robin's eyes shifted up to mine, "Wow, you look-"
"Awesome!" Wally interrupted, "Why can't my suit be that cool? It's practically glowing red!"
"Now that you have your suit, your fire abilities are controlled-temporarily. You can now do normal teenage girl things!" Zatanna exclaimed.
I raised my eyebrows, "What exactly are 'normal teenage girl things?" I inquired.
"Well you know, like movies, dates, and my favorite. Shopping."
"It's not like she can go around in public with her costume on Zatanna, we have to find clothes that'll extinguish the fire just like the suit does" Artemis interjected.
"Or, we need to help her learn to control her gift" Kaldur says out of nowhere, "You need to learn how to control your abilities when you do not have your suit.If you want to be free from this, you must put in the effort.Though it may be difficult to accomplish at first, you will soon get the hang of it. We all will help and work with you, Cara".
"Yeah, I know, I just don't know if I can do this guys" I admitted not looking at any of them, "I mean be on the team and all, I don't want to let you guys down, and I sure don't wanna look stupid if I'm not able to ever learn how to control this stupid fire stuff".
"Hey, you won't let us down, you got this, we believe in you" Robin said with a hand on my shoulder, "I believe in you".
"Thanks Rob, I appreciate it" I smile, wanting to get out of being the center of attention.
When everyone was done with the kinda-pep talk, we all went to the main room to relax and enjoy the rest of our evening, when we got a message from the Justice League that there was trouble down town.
This was it, my first real mission.
Author's Note
Hey guys, it's ashley!! It's been so long, I am sorry about that, there has been alot going on and well- didn't exactly have time to write or want to write. (Oops!!!!) I have been kinda lazy lately. I've been watching some really amazing tv shows like RIVERDALE (I may be writing fanfiction on that who knows) and the originals, and gilmore girls and 13 reasons why (also fanfiction on that maybe). But yeah, what have you been up to? What shows have you been watching and how did you like this chapter??? Feedback is welcome.
