A nurse came in notify me that my doctor will be in shortly. My aunt had arrived about an hour ago, her, Harry and I had been making small talk for the last hour or so. Each minute felt like an eternity, honesty. The minute the nurse spoke Harry excused himself, I could tell it was because he was going to cry.
Before he left the room, he came over to me and kissed my cheek and whispered in my ear.
"Stay strong. Remember what I told you earlier. I'll see you in a bit." He said as he exited the room. After he lefts and I heard the click of the door, my aunt looked up at me.
"I like that boy. He seems like the right guy for you." She says, trying to avoid the elephant in the room, but I don't want to speak about it either.
"I think he is." I admit to her, while I blush a very deep shade of pink. She chuckles, noticing my expression. We sit in silence for a few minutes, until we hear the door open again.
This is it, I think to myself. The moment could determine how my life will turn out. Whether it is good or bad, life or death, this will change my life forever.
"Good morning ladies." Dr. Smith greets us, and we both respond with 'Good morning'. She has a smile on her face, but I can't tell if it's a happy smile or a apologetic one. I guess I'll find out soon.
"So I have some news for you, Alyssa." She says, still wearing that smile. I nod motioning for her to continue.
"So you have now been with us for about three months now, and you have been doing very well with your treatment." She starts. "And I wanted to inform you that, you only have roughly a month of treatment left." She exclaims with a wide smile on her face, yet my heart has dropped. She must have seen the look on my face because seconds later she starts rapidly shaking her head.
"No, goodness, I'm sorry. I meant, you only have a month left of your treatment. Then you are free to go home." She exclaims clapping her hands together. And with that my jaw dropped. I honestly thought she was saying I had a month left to live. I thank her about a hundred times, and she leaves the room after explaining the process.
"Honey, I knew you could do it" my aunt says as she wraps her arms around me.
I suddenly remember Harry. I need to tell him, so I ask my aunt to go get him for me. She nods and seconds later he is running in the room.
"So? What's the news babe? Are you ok?" He overwhelms me with questions as he sit on my bed. I laugh lightly and he looks utterly confused.
"Harry I have a month left and then I'm free. I'm out of this place."I squeal, smiling, and his mouth gaps wide open.
"Oh my god." He mutters into my neck as he practically suffocates me in a hug, yet I love it so much.
"Stay here. I have a surprise for tonight. I'll be back in an hour or so." He says as he kisses my cheek and leaves the room.
With this boy, god only knows what it could be.
