"GO HUSKIES!" Penny and I cheer as our brothers' team step onto the ice.
"I have so much to tell you!" I laugh as Penny takes my phone from the bench and unlocks it.
"Looks like it." She's says mysteriously as she checks the messages on my phone.
"I mean it's news but 'why so serious?'" I laugh at my movie quote joke but all Penny does is show me my phone.
I read the text message.
Aspen: You said you were going to HC, right?
"And you didn't text me that you guys talked about homecoming because...?"
She waits for my reply.
"It wasn't that big of a conversation. It just slipped my mind."
"A hugeeeeee possible update of your possible relationship status shouln't just slip your mind!" We both laugh and she encourages me to tell more.
"Well, now that I've jogged your memory... TELL ME MORE!"
"ok ok ok. Well, I sort of zoned out for the first part of class and when I came back to reality he was at my desk asking if we should get to work. Now that I think about it, I don't know why he didn't talk to me sooner."
Penny nods. "He could have been "preoccupied". She laughs.
I continue, "So we went to go work on the project and they made the announcement about homecoming and then he asked if I was going."
Penny gasped and squealed quietly.
I laugh and roll my eyes at her. "I said yah. And then he started asking something. I had pretty much convince myself that he was going to ask me to the dance, but then he asked if I could Finnish the project because he had football practice tonight or something."
"awwwww man," My friend sighs next to me,"I'm so sorry Kate."
"It's not a big deal. You know I like him but we both know he is involved with a lot of girls and we don't want to get mixed into that."
She shrugs. "You've got a point."
"Soo..." I laugh, "How are you and JP doing?" I nudge her and we both laugh.
"Well. We held hands during the movie we went and saw together last week."
I listen to Kate continue to talk about her boyfriend as I look around the arena. I spot a hockey team that looks to be about my age, maybe a year older enter the arena. I scan the group for familiar faces. I spot Aspen in the mix but my eyes fall upon a different face, and damn was he hot.
