Anaya's P.O.V
After Himanshu left, I thought of starting a conversation with James. But the thing was that it wasn't that simple. You know that weird moment when you are in front of a guy and don't know what to say. Well, that's exactly what I'm going through.
"So, wanna watch tv?" I asked and turned to face him. He looked like a kid his hazel eyes were wide open and his face showed innocence. He smiled and nod. It was one of those rare moments when he smiled. He actually looked handsome while doing so. God, I can't believe I complimented him that much! I grabbed the remote control and switched on the television. My most hated channel about business played on the screen. In a fraction of second, I zapped it. I heard James chuckle.
"You hate those channels, right?" He asked.
"I do. Seriously, who finds it pleasant to watch business new while relaxing?" I said still trying to find something good tho watch.
"Me." He said with amusement.
"And how do you find it relaxing? Knowing that the economy's state is pathetic isn't the best way to de-stress. Watch Tom and Jerry instead. Trust me, you'll feel better." I replied. Frankly, how can he find business news relaxing?
"I'll. But right now, I have another way to relax." He said as I started getting curious.
"Oh really, what is it?" I asked.
"You." He said, looking into my eyes as if he could see my soul. I blushed beetroot red for sure.
I bit my lips, not knowing what to reply. I went through a few channels before finding one showing a fashion show. The dresses were so beautiful, I examined each and every of them. They were the recent collection of Elie Saab. This reminded me of the Summaiyah incident. I started biting my lips as I remembered that. I wanted to ask James about her but didn't knew whether it was a good idea.
"Can I ask you something?" I said.
"Sure." He replied smiling.
"How's Summaiyah?" I asked not looking at him.
"Why are you concerned about that?" He snapped back. He believes I'm behind it, right?
"I don't know..." I was cut off by James before completing my sentenced.
"Exactly, if you don't know better shut up." He said with anger in his voice. His smile now disappeared and his stern face was back.
"You still believe I did that, don't you?" I asked swallowing the lump in the throat.
"Anaya." He said and sigh. "I know you didn't do anything. It's just that she made me accuse you of things you haven't done. This incident is the reason for you lying on a hospital bed. If I hadn't let anger and first judgement influence me, you wouldn't be going through all this." James said. It was like exploding from all those feelings kept to himself.
I thought for a moment and placed my hand on his. "We wouldn't be talking to each other too." I said as he gave me a confused look which I smiled to. "Take it that way, there are two ways of describing the actual situation. The one you said and also the fact that if all this would have had never happened we would never be here talking and smiling to each other as well as holding hands." I said and pressed his hand. He looked at me and his expression looked softened.
"You are really something else." He said and kissed my hand, I could feel butterflies in my stomach. But, I liked it. "I'm sorry." He apologized looking at me. His eyes clearly showed regret.
"It's okay." I said.
"I mean not about the discussion. I.." He looked a little uncomfortable.
"It's okay. You don't have to explain." I said, giving him a smile.
"It's getting late. You should sleep." James said as I switched off the television. He is right. It's around midnight. He should go home too. He must be tired.
"I know. You should go home too. It's late and you need to rest. I can take care of myself." I tried to convince him.
"I feel home when I'm with you." He said as he laid his head on my hand. Those words went directly to my heart. I stayed speechless, not knowing what to reply. Would he be able to sleep in that position? He is used to King-size beds.
"You would be comfortable like this?" I asked sure of a worried look on my face.
"Don't worry. As long as I'm with you, it's okay." James said with a smile.
I thought twice and an idea popped in my head. I moved aside gaining a weird look from James.
"Sleep next to me." I said as I gestured the space next to me. He thought for a moment and before he could say anything. "Please." I said with my cutest puppy eyes. I know that things weren't going on perfectly between us but I don't want James to end with a back pain.
"Okay." He said as he moved on the bed with hesitation and carefulness. He was really careful about every single movement. Maybe he was scared of hurting me.
"Don't worry, you are not hurting me." I said as he was lounged next to me.
One of his hands snaked around me waist and pulled me closer to him. My head rested on his chest and his chin was on my head. He kissed it and his other hand was on my cheek, caressing it. I didn't protest about it, I really liked being next to him. I felt safe and loved.
"Goodnight." I said as I felt my eyes closing.
"Goodnight you too." He replied and kissed my hair. With that, we both engulfed in deep sleep.
