A/N: As said in the description, the picture is what I based her off of. I'd love someone to sketch her out or something for me <3 This is an old one that I'm rewriting, but it was never finished. Maybe I'll actually get somewhere with this. I hope you enjoy!
My eyes close and I take a deep breath as the warm breeze tousles my hair. The sun has just broken from the horizon, and I'd chosen to watch it from the balcony railing with a mug of coffee dangling from my fingertips. I glance down at the streets below where I find a genin and jonin jogging together, Rock Lee and Might Gai. Their cheers of youth and strength reach my ears and I roll my eyes. They are nuisances. Training and battle should be times of utter concentration, not emotions. I lazily lift the mug to my lips and drain the last of the bitter liquid. I push off the railing and head inside, locking the door behind me. My apartment is sparsely decorated, only slightly littered with various weaponry and scrolls. I wash the mug before returning it to the cabinet and turn to the clock on the wall. I have an hour left until training, leaving me nothing to do, not that training with those morons is any better. I let out a sigh as I stroll into the bathroom to take shower.
When I step out, I realize that I still have forty-five minutes to burn. I dress in a comfortable training outfit, then brush out my long pink hair. My hair has always been a wonder to me, given that my mother had raven colored hair and my father supposedly had fair hair. It doesn't match up. I slide on my jewelry before lining my eyes with charcoal. I tie my weapon belt loosely around my waist before strapping my swords to my back. Twenty minutes left. I head toward the front door and slide on my black boots. My forehead protector rests on the right boot, tied carefully to keep it off the ground. I double check my apartment to make sure I haven't forgotten anything, then lock the door as I step outside.
The village is slowly starting to come to life, merchants setting up to sell their wares or opening the restaurants. They pass by me without a second glance. I'm not very well liked here, but it's not my problem to deal with. Another breeze comes by and a thin ghost of a smile crosses my lips. The sky is turning bright blue and white puffy clouds are drifting by. It's going to be a good day today, well the weather atleast. Training will be an annoyance. To prove my point, when I arrive at the training spot, the Boy Blunder, Naruto, is being attacked by the Fan Girl, Sakura. Duck Butt, Sasuke, is sitting back against a tree, watching with the same annoyed expression I know that I have. I look around the wooded area and decide to take a seat on a low hanging branch across from Sasuke to watch as they attack each other. Sakura's voice finally grates my nerves until I mutter a single word.
"Stop."It's a simple word, but the venom laced in it stops them dead in their tracks. They spring away from each other before looking up at me. Naruto immediately starts shouting while Sakura's face pales until I'm almost certain she'd wet herself and faint.
"When did you get here?!" Naruto calls out, pointing his finger at me.
"About fourteen years ago, when I was born. I've been here for a long time, you must've known I was around. We were in the Academy together and are on the same team after all. I feel insulted Boy Blunder, I thought even with your low IQ you'd remember someone you see on a daily basis." I reply, laying backward across the branch.
"I-I uh, that's not what I meant! I mean how long were you sitting there on that branch!?" He retorts, then realizes that I insulted his intelligence. "Hey! My IQ isn't low! I'm really smart!"
I chuckle slightly. "I'm sure you are, considering the fact you failed the genin exam. The only reason you were admitted was because the jonin pitied you."
It's Sakura's turn to smart off to me. "Hey! Watch your mouth! Naruto is your teammate too! Treat him with some respect."
"Cute, coming from someone who just a moment ago was attacking and insulting him. I'm sure that constitutes respect. You'd gladly watch him be killed in front of you if that meant that Duck Butt over there would live. You never speak to Uzumaki outside of training and you talk badly about him every chance you get. There is no respect there, simply you acting like a two-faced, bratty little child." I turn my head to the side to find her face turning purple.
"You-!"
"'You', what? Are you going to try to hurt me now? You can't handle anyone who doesn't sugar coat how they feel about you, so when someone like me blatantly points out your flaws, you get all worked up and think fighting is the only answer. That may work with your other weak friends, but trust me, it won't work on me. I'd take you down before you could even blink." I slowly lean up and stretch, biting back a yawn.
"I-I'll get Sasuke-kun to hurt you! He can take you down easily! He's so strong!" I watch her turn dreamy eyed as she turns back to Duck Butt.
"Heh, the only way he could be considered strong is if I didn't exist; maybe then he'd have some semblance of a ninja worth his salt. Even then he'd still be weak."
"Who are you calling weak, Hanari?" Sasuke calls out, causing me to pause in cleaning the dirt from my fingernails.
"Did I hit a soft spot Duckie? I didn't misspeak, so you should know who I was talking about unless I misjudged your intelligence and you're worse than your fangirls?"
He stands up and stares me down. "I'll show you weak. Come down from the tree."
I laugh and jump down with ease. This should be fun.
I stand in front of Sasuke with a confident smirk on my face. His expression matches mine, his eyes alight with the confidence that he will win. He truly believes that he could bring me down without any problems. His dark eyes give away his plans to me though. I can read them easily as if they're an open book. I know his steps before he could even fully process them. We fight at least three times a week and I always win. It doesn't stop him from trying though. I imagine that I have become a stand in for his older brother Itachi, the one who murdered their entire clan and left Sasuke for dead. I don't mind because it gives me extra training.
"What are you waiting for Duckie? Attack me, I won't even move from my spot."
I watch his eyes move and I know what moves he is going to use. Kunai in right hand, run toward me five paces, slash from top to bottom. A simple lean backward to dodge attack, grab his wrist, pull up, and then slam to ground to counter.'
His right hand goes into his pouch and pulls out a kunai. Five paces later he's in front of me slashing the knife at me. I lean backward and grab his wrist, lifting him into the air before promptly slamming him down to the ground. I step on his chest with one foot and look down at him.
"Well, that was disappointing. I won within one move."
I can feel the rage pouring off of him as he glares up at me. He grabs my foot, pulling me down to the ground with him. He's going to 'pin' me down and hold the knife to my neck and declare himself the victor. I don't even have to think about it to know it's true. As predicted, he straddles my hips, holding my hands behind my head with one hand and the knife to my throat. Before he can declare himself the winner, I chime in.
"Oh Duckie, I never knew you were so forward. Especially in front of your fangirl. If you want you can always come by the apartment later and-"
"Shut up!" Sakura calls out and I glance up to find Sasuke actually lightly blushing.
I take the opportunity to get my hands free, grab the knife and toss it swiftly into the nearest tree. I latch onto his wrists and use my legs to help propel him up and over me. I get to my feet and brush myself off as his face collides with a tree trunk. He stands to attack again but our sensei appears between us, ending the fight. He scolds us for fighting but compliments our abilities. Kakashi's eye sweeps across us with a bored expression before explaining our training exercise for the day.
"Today, even though Sasuke and Koneko had gotten a head start already, you will be sparring each other. We will do consecutive rounds, two one on one rounds running at the same time. The winners from both matches will then fight each other. Winner gets to skip training for the rest of the week."
Naruto and Sakura instantly begin to complain about it and I resist the urge to knock both of them out right now. I'll get that honor soon enough.
"Naruto and Koneko, Sasuke and Sakura. Begin when you wish. I will call the end when I deem your life in danger or you are no longer able to fight."We split off to either side of the clearing. Naruto stands across from me, spouting nonsense about how he's going to defeat me. I roll my eyes and draw my swords. He does the signs for the shadow clone jutsu and hundreds of clones appear and run at me. In one swift motion, I spin around and slice through them all. It was stupid of him to have them all attack at once. I stop and face Naruto before sheathing my swords. I lift my hands and perform the signs for my mist service technique. Several oil-like clones appear in front of me, phasing in and out of the ground. I make them throw false kunai at him to distract him. While he's focused on them, I appear behind him and knock him out. I call off the genjutsu and walk over to our sensei. He looks up from his perverted book and calls me the winner. I watch in disinterest as Sakura weakly tries to defend herself from Sasuke's attacks. She's not a very strong fighter to begin with, but facing against her infatuation causes inner conflict for herself. Fight to win and impress her sensei while infuriating her crush, or lose to make him happy and make her appear weak. Sasuke disappears and reappears behind her holding a knife to her throat. I turn from watching her struggle and glance over at our silver haired sensei.
"You're twisted, Sensei." I mutter.
"Hm?"
"You pit the girl against the crush. She has to decide whether to lose for the sake of her crush or win to prove herself while ruining her chances of being with him. It's twisted. I love it."
"She needs to learn that there will be situations where she can't just fold because it's someone she cares about. She may have to fight against a loved one someday and she can't hold back." He explains, still staring at his Icha Icha Paradise novel.
"She will never learn. Oh, yeah. She just fainted. Might want to call it."
He lazily turns from the book and calls Sasuke the winner. Naruto just woke up and he drags Sakura out of the way for Sasuke and me to fight.I send a playful smirk his way as Sasuke stands before me. As before, I watch his eyes to judge what moves he will make and the best way to counter to bring him down. Shadow clone behind me, both striking at the same time. Duck, then swipe legs out from underneath, destroying the clone. Pin him down with knives and wait. He does as I predict and counter effectively, pinning his clothing to the ground. He reaches into his pocket and tosses several shuriken at me. I draw my swords and block them all in one fluid motion. Sasuke pulls the knives out of his clothes and throws them my way as well. I dodge them again easily and slice at him with my swords. He jumps out of the way, missing one, but getting nicked by the other. I hear Sakura's shrieky voice from the sideline as his arms drips blood. I resist the urge to aim my swords at her as Sasuke runs at me again. I swing again but he kicks one of the swords from my hand. I watch it flip through the air before embedding in the ground behind me. I sheath my remaining sword and opt for hand to hand instead. His foot comes up to kick me and I grab it, tossing him up into the air. I jump up after him, using my chakra to push myself up farther, then kick him toward the ground, creating a sizable dent on the forest floor. I land silently behind him as he coughs up blood and pushes himself back up. Before he can fully stand, I kick him in the back, knocking him back down. I place my foot on his back and pull out my sword again, allowing it to rest against his throat to make him unable to move without cutting himself. I look up to our sensei, waiting for his approval on the match. Sasuke struggles beneath me, but stops when he nicks himself.
"Winner is Koneko." Kakashi finally states after realizing that we'd stopped fighting. "You're excused from training for the week. Report back here on Monday for training."
"Yes, Sensei." I nod and bow slightly before putting my sword away and leaving Sasuke on the ground while I retrieve my other one. I sense something headed toward me and catch the kunai that was aimed at my head. "Hey Duckie, I think you dropped these." I toss them back behind myself.
I continue walking and pull my sword out of the ground and sheath it.
"Sasuke, the fight is over. You lost. Stop trying to attack her." Kakashi scolds. "Koneko, you're dismissed. The rest of you will stay and fight each other until one loser is left. That loser will have extra training hours for the week. The next winner will have three days off, and last will have two days."
I hear their complaints as I walk back toward town and smirk.
