Turn Back Time

Another month of rigorous training passes without another mission and with minor incidents. After stealing Hidan's scythe, I had to avoid him for a week and a half before he would stop trying to murder me on sight. During our training days, he didn't take it easy on me. I ended up with several cuts and bruises from it, but I definitely learned a lot from it. I will admit that I'm beyond ready to leave the base again, I'm too used to being outside to be trapped here. I'm currently laying across my bed, tossing a kunai up into the air and catching it. Why? Because there's nothing else to do. My door suddenly opens and on instinct I toss the kunai toward the intruder. The only response is a simple sigh before the kunai embeds in the wall on my side of the room.
"What do you want?" I ask, still staring at the ceiling.
"Get your stuff together, we're leaving in five minutes."
My head immediately turns toward the door, excitement briefly washing over me. Hidan is leaning against the doorway, a light smirk playing on his face.
"Where are we going?" I ask as I get to my feet.
"Bounty hunting."
I turn back to the door after grabbing my swords but he's gone. I'm a little excited to be able to go outside but at the same time, I know that if I attempt to slip away, Kakuzu and Hidan would easily kill me with little to no hesitation. I know Kakuzu wouldn't think twice about it, but Hidan and I have spoken with each other a lot so I feel like he may second guess. I can't exactly fight them off and overpower them, they're immortal. Anything I could do that would ordinarily severely injure an opponent would feel like a papercut to them. With a disappointed sigh, I sling a small bag over my shoulder and head toward the entrance. Hidan and Kakuzu are waiting for me, the entrance already open. Of course. We take off through the forest at a leisurely pace, setting me on edge because of the pent up energy.
"Where are we going exactly?" I ask, turning to walk backward in front of them.
"Yugakure." Hidan answers, anger flashing across his face.
I briefly wonder where the anger is seated, but a quick glance at the forehead protector resting around his throat answers it for me. I'd forgotten that that was where he came from.
"Who are we killing?" I ask, abandoning the topic.
"There's a man attacking women in the village and they don't have ninja, so they put a bounty out for the man. He's hurting their business."
I nod and turn back around to enjoy the forest around us. I may as well enjoy the journey because it may be another month before I go out again after this. I'm atleast going to have two weeks of freedom because it'll take about a week to get there depending on the speed we travel.
"Am I dead if I try to take off?" I ask suddenly, looking up from my necklace several hours later.
"That's fucking obvious." Hidan chirps in response.
"Eh, it was worth a shot. Can I hold your scythe?"
"Do you want to die?" He hisses, gripping the handle of the scythe subconsciously.
"I'll postpone that celebration..."
We make it into the Land of Fire without issue and I realize that places the base within the Land of Rivers. That bit of knowledge will come in handy. As the sun starts to set I feel a chill run down my spine as if someone is watching us. I cut my eyes to Hidan and Kakuzu but they show no signs of noticing the presence. I lag behind them slightly, keeping myself visibly relaxed but inside I'm shaking with anticipation. The presence follows us for a while, staying back at a safe distance but close enough that I know they're there. We stop for the night an hour later and the stalker is still tailing us. Kakuzu leaves the clearing to gather wood while Hidan and I finish setting up the camp. To my surprise, Hidan works in silence, his attitude slowly worsening the closer we've gotten to his home village. I pass by him and give him a pointed look before mouthing if he's noticed. He nods slightly before promptly sitting down against a tree trunk and groaning.
"Kakuzu better hurry the fuck up. I'm hungry. Finish setting up."
"Oh of course, oh great leader." I mutter, rolling my eyes.
I crouch down and remove my pack, rifling through it for some of the food I'd packed away. I can feel Hidan's eyes on me and I subtly shake my head for him to stay down. Our visitor has moved and is aimed directly for me.
In a fluid motion, I get to my feet, drawing my swords and spinning to catch the enemy's blade a few centimeters away from my face. It's a Leaf shinobi, judging by the headband, but I don't recognize him. I myself had decided to wear a mask over most of my face, a cloth one much like Kakashi-sensei wears, to keep my identity more hidden in the outside world. Right now, I imagine the Leaf thinks I'm dead so maybe if I stay hidden and can escape, I can come up with an excuse and come back. I shove back against the force of his kunai and manage to throw him off of me so I can attack. I hear Kakuzu return behind me and Hidan chuckling as the ninja and I exchange blows. I study the man's face carefully as we fight, trying to remember who he is, because he looks more and more familiar to me.
"So Pretty Boy, to what do I owe the pleasure of your appearance?" I ask, dodging a flying kunai.
"Two Akatsuki members and an accomplice are travelling through my lands, I just had to investigate." He answers, glaring at me.
"'Accomplice' sounds so... blah. I'm more like an unwilling guest, if you will. Regardless, it'll be fun to bathe in your blood."
As I say it, my mind registers who he is. It comes in brief memory flashes: Rain, umbrella, pineapples. Shikamaru. The closest to a friend I had had, and the one that didn't help me the last time I was in the Leaf. Now, I'm probably going to have to kill him.
"You know that you're wasting your time, right?" I start, flipping backward out of his way. "Even if you succeed in killing me, they'd kill you before you could even blink. They can't be killed, would you like to have your name on the KIA stone back home?"
His eyes narrow at the mention of the stone and his attacks grow stronger, actually keeping me on my toes. It painfully reminds me of back home in the fields when we'd train together until we got tired and laid down to stare at the clouds or the stars, depending on the time. I wish that I could just stop like before and that would be the end, that Hidan and Kakuzu wouldn't be here and none of this had happened, but I know I can't. I can't turn back time and it can't ever be the same.

A/N: So, after this mission she's on, I have absolutely no idea what to do. 0.0 I also have no end game for this. Whyyyyyyyyyy???????
