A/N: I know it looks very plain, but this is what I imagine Koneko's swords to look like. They were her mother's and I picture a mature female ninja carrying something simple yet effective, not flashy and intricate.
"Here's where we start..." I whisper as my free hand reaches back and pulls a sword.
Deidara registers it just quick enough to shove me backward before I can decapitate him. A low chuckle escapes me as I catch the betrayal flickering across his face before settling into a furious glare.
"Honestly, Deidara, did you really expect that to be true? I'm the biggest bitch in Konoha, I don't love and I don't care."
I swiftly draw my other sword and rush toward him, my anger finally trying to release itself. He jumps backward at every slash, his hands desperately trying to make it to the clay pouch on his hip. If I can keep him like this long enough, I'll be fine. Once he gets the clay, I'm probably screwed. He's a long range fighter and I'm more hands on. He is also a lot more experienced than I am at fighting. I aim a strike at the pouch, hoping to tear the fabric so it falls. If he can't reach it, he can't use it. It tears slightly, but not enough. I scowl and quicken my pace as he dodges the slices. I can tell he's trying to figure out how to distance us but my attacks are making it harder to focus. His foot comes up suddenly and manages to miss my swords, hitting me in the chest and sending me backward. I close my eyes and tuck to absorb impact as my body skitters through the grass. I stab my swords down into the dirt and it stops me a few feet away. Pay attention to the feet, Koneko.
I roll out of the path of several clay birds as they detonate where I sat. I get to my feet and stare at him, trying to plot my next plan. Oh yeah, he's pissed. If I don't win, I'm dead. I flare my chakra again but I don't feel a response. That idiot better be awake still. I sigh and fly through the handsigns for the Lightning Rat Tremor, smirking as several lightning shaped disks leave my hands and head straight toward him. He steps out of the way, his hands working on another round of clay bombs, expecting it to miss. The disks curve back toward him and he tosses the clay into the disks, causing a rather large explosion. I use the momentary distraction to get back into range with him, jumping through the smoke at him. He reacts faster than I'd expected and kicks me back again. That's seriously annoying. I go to stand but he steps painfully on my throat. I feel slightly bad for the landlord now, this hurts. I glare up at him as he smirks, a ball of clay in his hands. He does have orders to kill me for trying to run.
"Honestly, Koneko," he starts, mocking me. "did you really expect to win, un? I'm stronger than you. Now, the question remains, should I kill you or keep you as a toy?"
"Kill me, you'd be doing me a favor." I challenge between gasps for breath.
"Doing you a favor, un? Can't have that, now can we? I think I'll keep you around a little longer."
The pressure on my throat lessens slightly but only enough to allow me to breathe again and the black to leave the edges of my vision. I feel my fingers finally make contact with the hilt of a sword as I'd hoped and quickly grab onto it. I raise my arm in a fluid movement, managing to stab him just under the ribcage. I know I've missed the vital organs, unfortunately, but it should be enough to get the advantage again. He steps back and I scramble to my feet, eyes scanning the area for the other sword. I hear the sickening sound of him pulling the sword from his body and it hits the ground several feet away. My eyes cut back and forth between him, the sword, and the trees leading to Shikamaru's field. We're clear across this field which is about an acre in its own. I'd have to clear it and the trees to get to relative safety. I could come back for my swords later. I turn without further hesitation and take off through the grass. Behind me, I can hear him cursing under his breath but it doesn't sound like he's following. That's a good sign I think. A shadow passes over me, just barely noticeable in the dying light but I realize that I'm screwed. A large bird swoops down beside me and pain spikes on the back of my head, bringing me instantly to my knees. The trees are right there... I reach out toward them, willing my body to work with me just a minute longer, but I can't move. The pain is too great and the black is creeping back over my eyes. Fuck.
