I stomp through the kitchen, ignoring the stare of one of the members, then pause. What am I doing? I swivel around and shove the training room doors open again. Itachi is still standing there with the book back in his hand. He closes it and looks up at me, a superior smirk playing across his lips. I want to smack that look right off his face. I march up to him and demand that he tell me who my father is. I work up the darkest glare I can muster and aim it at him. To my surprise, he lifts a hand and gently pokes me in the forehead.
"Think about it Koneko and you'll figure it out."
"Don't touch me." I mutter, swiping his hand away. "I don't look like my mother and last I recall I've never met a man with pink hair."
"His hair isn't pink."
"Give me a hint. It's not fair. You had a chance to know who your father was."
His eyes flash but he quickly regains his emotionless demeanor.
"He's from a village."
I stare at him in a mixture of disbelief and annoyance.
"That's your hint?"
He nods and walks past me, out into the base.
I stare at his retreating form until the doors close, then chase after him. I catch up with him under the archway between the main room and the kitchen and jump onto his back. He tries to throw me off of him but I hold tightly and yell at him to tell me who it is. He doesn't answer but manages to toss me off of him and I skid into the main room, my back striking the leg of the table. I ignore the stares from the people sitting around, because it seems as if they don't do much else, and get to my feet. I run back toward him and aim a punch at his face. He grabs it easily and shoves me backward again.
"Why won't you just tell me who it is? I'm sorry you killed your family and all, but I have the chance to get to know my father and you dangle it over my head like you're better than me!" I shout, launching myself at him.
He lifts a foot and kicks me in the stomach. I curl up to land on my feet, but I suddenly stop in mid-air and my neck hurts.
I crane my neck to the right and figure out what happened. Moody is holding me by the throat and is now painfully squeezing. I crack an innocent smile at him and he squeezes harder until I gasp in pain. His eyes leave mine and turn to Itachi before coming back to me. I start to claw at his hands in an attempt to breathe again now that my lungs are starting to burn.
"Enough." He growls, squeezing tighter before suddenly dropping me. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Itachi started it. He told me that he knows my father but won't tell me who! Make him tell me, Moody!"
I get to my feet only to have Moody kick me back to the floor. The breath I'd just gotten back leaves me in a painful burst.
"I've had enough of your lack of respect! Call me Leader, not Moody and treat myself and the others with respect or else." He growls, his eyes flashing dangerously.
Sadly, my fear makes my mouth respond without my brain thinking it through. "Or else what? It's not like I have much going for me right now anyway."
He kicks me again, but I flinch and instead of my ribs, he catches my eye. I hold back the cry threatening to escape and place my hand over my eye. I get to my feet and he stares down at me expectantly. I scowl and lift my hand in a sarcastic salute, tapping two fingers against my forehead.
"Your Majesty." I croon.
Before I can react, his fist connects with my other eye, but I manage to ground myself enough keep my body still.
"I can order your death at any time without hesitation. You are not an asset so your loss wouldn't affect anything. Learn your place."
I watch him turn around and disappear down the dark hall before turning to glare at Itachi. He stares back with the same emotionless expression he typically carries but doesn't say a word. I turn and head back to my room, the anger and pain getting the better of me. I'd rather be alone. I smack into someone's chest and shove them aside, muttering for them to get out of my way. I expect them to retaliate but I don't hear anything and I don't get injured so I count myself lucky.
