L U K E

My sister was back. Damn, and I thought that I escaped from her grasp. I hated her, but I still loved the part of her that is now gone due to the transformation.

And I try to forget that she's here. I try to forget that she wants Sophia.

Why does she want her? What is she going to do to her? Can I save her?

Can I save her?

My phone rang bringing me out of my thoughts. I slid my thumb across the answer call button.

"Hello?" My voice was hoarse from just waking up a few minutes ago.

"Hey little brother, I just wanted to tell you... 896... Time's running out." The line went dead shortly after.

Before I even registered what I was doing, I abruptly ran out of my flat and continued to run until I got to a piece of land possessed by a wear house. 896.

I slammed my body onto the door, breaking the lock in the process. The metal door fell to the dirt and my eyes wandered until they rested on a girl who lie limp on one concrete slab.

I sprinted over to her body and kneeled, picking her up and cradling her in my lap. I cupped the side of her cheek with my free hand and brushed her hair behind her ear.

"You actually came?" I heard snickering behind me and I turned my head to look at my sister.

"You actually care about her? Huh... Weird..." She paused and shot me a sinister smirk. "Awee, my little brother has feelings. How humane of you."
"She's on the brink of death, brother." She taunted as I looked at Sophia and noticed blood smeared on her neck where a bite mark was.

As soon as I noticed that, the scent filled my nose and my fangs threatened to turn me into a monster. I clamped my eyes shut and ignored the hunger.

"What the fuck do you want?" I said through gritted teeth.

"I want you to suffer." And my sister was gone.

A tear rolled down my cheek and I pulled Sophia into my chest, rocking us back and forth. I could still hear her heart beat, it was faint, but I had hope.

It was in that moment that I realized how much I cared for that girl who tried so hard to fix my problems, and how much I'd miss her if she was gone.

I wasn't always quiet during our sessions, so we shared good times. I got to know her more, and I let myself compromise my nature.
