It had been a few days since they had agreed on starting over. Hoseok had actually gotten better. He tried to make a difference.
Jae Hwa appreciated that loads. It was school and for the first time in forever, she smiled on her way. She couldn't wait to tell Jin her accomplishment.
When she reached her locker she opened it and looked at her belongings that were carefully stacked inside of the space she had gotten to make enough space. She suddenly thought about Hoseok's smile. How his eyes got smaller when he smiled, and how he looked like the happiest person on earth as soon as he tugged on his lips. How could a person change so fast? Was it even possible?
«What are you thinking about?»
The voice was dark. It was almost impossible not to know who it was. Jae Hwa was slightly panicked. Was she ready to see him? How would she act?
She looked over to see him resting his back against the locker, looking at her. His eyes were watching her carefully as if she was a fragile object that could shatter at any second. She was rougher than he thought. She knew how to be strong. She could take care of herself.
Hoseok smiled when she closed the locker, making a loud sound. He carefully reached out to take her hand, holding it in his. It felt weird. Her heart was beating fast and her face was turning red. She looked down at her feet.
Hoseok didn't seem a tiny bit affected. He grabbed her face, making her look at him. Was this his idea of starting over? This was much more skinship than normal friends were used to, and he just grabbed her hand. His touch made her skin warm and her knees all fuzzy.
Jae Hwa didn't even know a boy could have this much of an effect on her. She had never been doing anything like this on her own will before. Even her first kiss was forced and nasty. It gave her the chills, and not in a good way.
«Don't hide your face. I want to see it,» he whispered as he leaned down to her ear. She could feel the warmth of his lips as they brushed against her ear. It gave her shivers. How could he be so calm?
«Why?» she asked nervously.
«Because I find it interesting,» he answered with a smile.
Everything went so fast. Jae Hwa's brain couldn't think that fast. It was almost impossible. One second he was smiling at her and the next he was dragging her down the hall, by her hand. His hand carefully wrapped around hers, making sure she didn't disappear.
Maybe she never had been good enough friends with someone to be that intimate, but she had never once held someone's hand other than her moms. She had also never held the hand of the boy she liked. Never had that happened before. It was a weird feeling.
She didn't even know when he became the boy she liked. It had just happened. There was nothing more she could say about that.
