Ashton and I sat in his basement with a bag of crisps in between us as we were playing Mario Kart. His brother sat on the sofa behind us and Lauren was at a birthday party. While she was gone and Anne Marie was at work, Ash and I agreed to watch over Harry.

While Ashton was choosing between which cart would make him faster and beat me, we both reached into the bag for a crisp at the same time. Our fingers brushed against each other, making mine spark. I jerked my hand away, looking up at a frowning Ashton guiltily.

"You okay there, mate?"

"Yeah. Yeah, just scared me. I didn't know you were reaching for a crisp too." From behind I heard Harry stifle a giggle and I couldn't help but blush. What if he knew. He can't know! He'll probably think it gross and hate me.

"Okay, then." Ashton grinned and decided on the first cart as a choice. "Let's race."

My jaw dropped when I saw he chose Rainbow Road.

"Aw, c'mon Ashy. You know I can't play this track!" Ashton giggled.

"Oh well." I gasped, fake hurt, and shoved his shoulder. I felt my heart flutter as my fist made contact with him.

"Ashton!" Harry said loudly.

"Yeah, buddy?"

"I'm hungry." Ashton sighed, slightly annoyed and paused the game.

"I'll be back, Cal. You want anything?" I shrugged.

"I'm okay for now." He smiled and followed Harry up the stairs to the kitchen. As soon as they were out of sight I pulled my phone out and dialed Michael's number.

"Hello?"

"Michael."

"Cal, you okay?"

"Why isn't it working?"

"What do you mean..."

"I tried pushing it away and it just keeps coming back." I tried to hold back the tears. I felt like I was burdening everyone with my crying.

"Just don't worry about it, mate." Michael seemed somewhat worried and annoyed at the same time.

"I can't." I whispered. "It's not that easy."

"Then I don't know, buddy. I'm a little busy right now." I instantly felt guilty.

"Oh. I'm sorry."

"It's alright. I'll talk to you later?"

"Yeah, okay. Bye bye." As soon as I hung up, I heard someone walk down the stairs. I turned around and paled, it was Ashton.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"Who was that."

"Just my....mum." I tried to fib but I think Ashton caught on.

"It was Michael, wasn't it?"

"What? No."

"Don't lie to me Calum Hood." Ashton walked at me and I skunked away against a wall.
