Chapter 6

~Alex~

“Mason!” I scream as he stumbles back, a hand on his eye.

He balances himself before looking up at the intruder with a scowl.

“What’s wrong with you?” he demands furiously looking like he’s ready to charge.

I gulp trying to think of any way to stop him from getting into a fight with someone obviously weaker than him. Mason might seem small and sleek physically wise, but there’s a reason why he’s on the football team- if you get what I’m getting at.

“Mason calm down,” I coax in a sweet tone.

He doesn’t bat an eyelid in my direction.

“Seriously dude, humor me,” Mason spits the words like venom.

I’m shocked. I hadn’t seen who had hit Mason and I’d been too worried in looking at him to see who it was exactly that punched him in the face, besides I’d been convinced it was Maren- but now not so much since Mason would definitely have not referred to Maren as dude. She wasn’t a guy and Mason can’t call Maren anything but Lauren to her face.

“Mason,” I say with an edgy tone to my voice trying to warn him to not do anything stupid.

I then turn around to see who exactly it is that dared to hit Mason Blake in the face- there’s only a few people I could think of that would actually do something like that but the most obvious one had already been eliminated from my list.

“Will?” I ask shocked as Will stands there perfectly still a slight smirk on his face.

He turns his head to look at me before smiling slightly and looking back at Mason.

“Alex,” he merely responds still eyeing Mason, humor etched into his crystal clear blue eyes.

It’s a dark humor though turning his eyes a stormy kind of blue- that deep tinge of swirling color.

I hear Mason loudly grit his teeth, “Go ahead,” he says once more.

Will clears his throat softly, “You deserved it," he says simply before looking over at me and sighs slightly before speaking, “Alex I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you, but it is soccer season and with so many big games to play in, and with the responsibility of captain on my shoulders, I barely had enough time to even sleep,” he smiles sheepishly.
