Chapter 5: Missing You
The rest of the week goes by and the next thing I know is Friday. Kamaal has been missing in action these past couple of days. We text every now and then, but I haven't seen him since he called me the other day. I hope everything is alright with him. I enter my English class with hopes of seeing Kamaal again. As I'm looking around the classroom I get a tap on my shoulder that makes me jump.
"Who you lookin for bruh?"
"Nigga don't be popping out of nowhere like that!!! I wasn't looking for anybody." I say blushing on the inside
"Mmmhmm sure you weren't." Kamaal says as he smiles.
"I wasn't. Where have you been these past two days?"
"My little sister was sick so I had to stay home and take care of her while my mom was at work. Awww, did somebody miss me??" Kamaal asks
"Ain't nobody miss yo big head ass."
Clearly I'm lying, and it's so obvious to him. Kamaal gives me the "yeah right" look, and the teacher walks in the room. As we're taking more notes, I take a look back at Kamaal, and once again he winks at me and shows that gorgeous smile. I'm so focused on him, that I didn't even realize Ms. Richards was trying to get my attention for the past few seconds.
"Mr. Richardson...Mr. Richardson....CHRIS!!!" She yells as she finally gets my attention
"Umm yeah the answer is B." I say as the class bursts out in laughter
"Chris I asked if you agree with the statement on the board. It's not a multiple choice question.
"Oh...oops" I say as I shrug my shoulders.
"Pay attention. Next time I won't be so easy on you"
I simply shake my head yes and continued paying attention to her lesson. I felt a little embarrassed because I was so stuck on Kamaal. Oh well, that's my sprung ass gets. As class continues I start to drift off, and then the bell rings. As I gather my things Kamaal taps me on my shoulder and hands me a note. I grab the note from him, and he licks his lips and walks out the classroom. I stare off into space once again and Trey snaps me back into reality.
"Chris!" Trey yells as he slaps my back. "I've been calling your name and you're just standing there. What's goin on with you?"
"Nothin bruh wassup?"
"You sure? You've been actin pretty strange today." Trey says
As soon as Trey gets ready to grill me, Kamaal runs back in the classroom to talk to Ms. Richardson. He winks at me again and I lose focus.
"Y-y-yeah man. I'm good" I tell him, obviously lying with my stuttering
"Chris your stuttering again. Who you crushing on this time?" Trey asks me as he laughs.
"Nobody man...I'm g-good...real good...you know good."
Trey looks over at Kamaal and I'm damn near sweating. He looks back at me and sees that I'm staring at Kamaal. He shakes his head and laughs.
"Ooohh ok, look I'll see you at lunch lil homie." Trey says as he daps me up
"Yeah cool"
Trey walks out the classroom and heads towards the cafeteria. As I'm walking out of class I take a look at Kamaal and give him a smile. I think I need to stop playing around and tell him how I feel. NOT!!! I walk to my locker to put my books away. As soon as I close it, I see Jamal standing on the other side. I slam my locker shut and prepare to walk away. Jamal grabs my shoulder and turns me around
"Damn, what now Jamal?" I say as I roll my eyes
"Nothin lil sexy. I just wanna talk to you"
"We have nothing to discuss anymore. You didn't wanna talk when I wanted you to, so what's the point now?"
"Bruh we not about to go there right now. Look, I just wanna say I'm sorry. I messed up, and realized I lost the best thing ever. I miss you, and I know you miss me." Jamal says
"I really don't." I tell him
Jamal: Really Chris?? Look me in my eyes and tell me you don't miss me
I'm not gonna lie part of me still has a small thing for Jamal. Jamal is not a bad looking dude. He's about 5'9, basketball build, smooth brown skin, black eyes, low fade, and his goatee is trimmed to perfection. I take one good look at Jamal and tell him what I really think
"Jamal, part of me does miss you, and part of me is still pissed off at you. I can forgive you for the things you've done, but I'm moving on. You need to do the same."
Jamal looks at me, and nods his head. After I said my piece, I walk away and head towards the cafeteria.
"Don't worry, you'll be back soon. I know it!!"
I roll my eyes at his statement and walk in the cafeteria. I'm over Jamal and he needs to get over me.
