Chapter 58: What's Coming Up?
*Chris's POV*
Prom was a lot of fun. I can't speak for everyone else, but I had a blast. Too bad prom only lasts for one night. Kamaal got us a hotel room for a few days, and lets just say there's a hole in the wall behind the headboard. But now that prom is over, it's time to get focused on big events coming up: my 18th birthday, finals, and last but not least, graduation. I really don't have anything planned for my birthday, but I'm pretty sure I'll think of something to do with Trey and Myra. I make my way to the cafeteria, and sit down at the table. Myra is making kissy faces with Demetri, and Trey is stuffing his face with that nasty ass cafeteria food.
"Hey y'all."
Myra waves at me and goes back to flirting with Demetri. Trey gives me a head nod while filling his mouth with food.
"Did y'all have fun at prom the other night? I sure did."
"Yeah boo." Myra says
"Mmhmmm"
"Uh-huh..." Trey says
Ok, what's going on? Why are they giving me these short answers? The Trey and Myra I know would be going in about it right now.
"Myra you looked real pretty that night."
"You really think so? It took my cousin forever to finish my hair, and Demetri was sitting around like we didn't have to be anywhere."
"You threatened me, so that's why I took so long."
"Demetri, you let Myra's little ass control you?"
"Hell nah!!! She already know I run this."
Myra slaps Demetri on the back of his head.
"You don't run shit. You didn't even get a chance to run down the court during basketball season!"
"Oooohhhh"
"Y'all like taking it there don't y'all?"
"Don't be sensitive. I don't date pussy ass niggas."
"Y'all a mess. Yo Demetri, are you gonna finish those chili cheese fries?" Trey asks
"Actually I was-"
Trey reaches across the table and grabs Demetri's chili cheese fries before he could finish his remark.
"Thanks bro. Jesus loves you!"
I laugh as Demetri just sits there looking dumbfounded. I take the time to drop hints about my birthday.
"Soooo, best friends....Demetri....do y'all know what's happening next week?"
"The end of cheerleader season. Sad face." Myra says
"Who the hell are y'all cheering for? We're not even playing anybody!"
"Trey, have a tall glass of shut the fuck up."
"I'm not talking about the cheerleaders, I'm talking about something else."
"Oh yeah, finals are coming up."
"Yeah that's true, but ok talking about something that actually matters." I say as I roll my eyes
"I'm lost as usual. While y'all figure this out, I'm getting hot wings." Trey says
Trey walks away, and heads toward the snack station. I watch him walk away and I look at Myra as if she had 4 heads.
"Whats wrong boo?"
"So you have no idea what's coming up?"
"Yeah, Mr. Matthews final is next week. I heard it's supposed to be hard."
