Chapter 49: Substitute
*Chris's POV*
Wow bae are you serious?
"Bae I'm so serious. I swear I felt someone watchin me or followin me." Kamaal says
"Thats crazy. You're starting to sound like me a little bit."
"No I don't. Your life is like a soap opera."
"No it's not!"
"Yes it is. Your dramatic ass mom, your dramatic ass friends, your dramatic ass ex, and your boyfriend who loves you dramatically" Kamaal say as he laughs
"Shut up punk, wit yo paranoid ass."
"Whatever punk"
As Kamaal continues telling me about what he went through tonight, I just sit back and listen. With all the messages I've been getting lately, I wouldn't be surprised if someone was following him for real.
"Well bae just be careful."
"Don't worry baby boy, I'll be alright."
"Remember your promise right? You'll always be there for me?" I ask him
"Of course. You know I'll come runnin whenever you need me."
A FEW DAYS LATER
*Kamaal's POV*
Finally the day has come. I'm finally healed and I'm able to play again. Even though I went against my physical therapists wishes, I still played in the last game makin our team advance to the next round in the playoffs. I guess the long practices and the physical therapy helped my leg heal faster. I'm proud of the team so far. We're just one more game away from the championship. I ain't gon' lie, we played some pretty good teams, but when they step to the Warriors, they dreams get crushed. I'm pretty sure this next game we have tonight will be a win for us. As usual, coach is giving us a pep talk before the game. Some are listenin and some are not. Guess which one I'm doin? I continue lacin up my shoes when coach mentions my name.
"Kamaal it's nice to see you're finally healed and able to join us. Try your best to keep up your speed, but pace yourself most importantly. I don't want you to injure yourself again. "
"Sure thing Coach. I wouldn't wanna set myself up for another situation like that again." I say to Coach
I look over at Jamal and he mean mugs the hell outta me. I flash him both middle fingers and listen to coach ramble on about the new plays we've been workin on. Honestly I don't think we need new plays. We've been doin fine with the other ones, but I guess change is good. Eventually the music starts and coach wraps things up.
"Alright everyone hands in"
Is he really serious? Here we go with this shit again.
"Warriors on....on second thought never mind. Lets get out there and win this damn thing."
We celebrate and eventually run out the locker room.
*Chris's POV*
"So wait, you mean to tell me he felt like someone was watching him?" Trey asks
"Yeah, that's what he told me last night. He said he was walking home and he just felt like he was being followed. Crazy shit right?"
"Well what do you think it is?"
"Hell if I know. I just want this mess to be over and done with."
"It will Chris. This whole thing will blow over real soon. Someone is just trying to fuck with your head."
