Chapter 47: Stay With Me
*Chris's POV*
After receiving the text messages, I cuddle closer to Kamaal. As soon as I felt his lip pressed against my right cheek, it just gave me a feeling of security. While cuddled up next to Kamaal, I find myself looking around at my surroundings. I look at everyone who pulls their cell phones out and occasionally check mine to see if I can find out who is really sending me messages.
"You alright baby?"
"Yeah I'm fine boo."
"You sure, cause you're shakin like a crackhead." Kamaal asks
"Y-y-yeah, I'm just a little cold."
Kamaal gives me his jacket and pulls me closer to him. I brush the text messages off and continue watching the game. We're currently in the lead right before halftime starts.
"This game is really pissin me off?" Trey says as he rolls his eyes
"Why? We're winning, so what are you so bitter about?"
"I mean yeah that's all good, but they could've sent us some real competition. We're draggin them right now."
Trey was not lying. The score was 54-34.
"Trey, they could make a comeback. You'll never know."
"Whatever. I'm getting cheese fries. Do y'all want anything?"
"Yeah, get me-"
"Ok cool"
Trey walks down the bleachers and heads toward the concession stand .
"Is he gonna get you anything?" Kamaal asks as he laughs
"He better..."
Kamaal laughs at me and we continue watching the cheerleaders do their halftime show.
"Why don't the cheerleaders compete like the step team does?"
"Mainly because there aren't any cheerleading competitions in this area."
"But y'all go all the way out of town to compete."
"Thats true. But you just might have to ask Myra about that cause I honestly can't tell you."
The cheerleaders finish their show, and Trey comes back with both hands full of snacks. He has two cheese fries boats, nachos, and candy. He sits next to us and hands me the nachos.
"What if I wanted cheese fries too?" I ask him
"Sorry Chris. I took the last one."
"It's fine, I like nachos anyway."
The game goes on and the announcer keeps shouting out Jamal. That really starts to piss me off because if Kamaal wasn't injured, his name wouldn't even be mentioned. Eventually the game ends and we end up winning.
"And the Cross High School Warriors advance to the next round. Warriors 75, Cougars 59."
"Cougars? That's what they call themselves? They're more like kittens cause we pounced all over their asses."
"Trey you wild bruh."
The Warriors continue celebrating on the court while the kittens walk back to the bench with their heads down in shame. Shit, after looking at that score, I would be ashamed too.
"Aight y'all lets get out of here."
"Wait for Myra. She said she needed a ride." Trey says
"Lord she better not take forever."
"Boy shutup, I'm right here. Oohhh Trey, give me a sour straw!"
"Hell nah!!! Not my blue sour straws."
"Give me one before I take it from you!"
"You better catch me first!" Trey says
Trey and Myra run around the gym like two little kids. Lord, give me the strength to deal with these two. While Trey and Myra run around, Kamaal talks to coach. I lean up against the wall and my phone vibrates again.
Text message: I hope you enjoyed yourself
Text message: You need to stop playin and fuck wit a real nigga
Text message: Lookin so cute up against the wall :-)
I froze. I look around and try to find out who the hell is watching me. My phone vibrates again.
Text message: Stop lookin around. You'll never find me with all these people here.
I delete the message and put my phone back in my pocket. I look over at Myra and Trey, and they are still running.
"Myra stop! You will never catch me!"
"Trey just give me a damn sour straw and I'll leave you alone."
At this point, I'm completely over these two. I snatch the sour straws from Trey, and stuff the last two in my mouth.
"CHRRRRISSS!" Myra and Trey say to me as I eat the candy in their faces
"Now bring y'all asses before y'all get left."
As we walk out the gym, my phone vibrates again. I pull it out and read the message. Scary thoughts fill my head, and I really don't feel comfortable driving.
"Trey you drive."
"Whaaat?? You're letting me drive your precious vehicle?"
"Yeah, I'm not feeling to good. Just be careful with my shit."
I throw Trey the keys and climb in the back seat with Kamaal. As Trey pulls off, I find myself looking out the window constantly. Eventually we arrive in Trey and Myra's neighborhood.
"Are you gonna be ok enough to drive home?" Trey asks
"Yeah I'll be fine."
"Ok get some rest boo boo." Myra says
I say goodbye to Trey and Myra and drive off. 10 minutes later, we arrive at my house. I pull up in the driveway and shut the car off. Kamaal and I get out and talk a little bit.
"Are you sure you're ok baby?"
"Y-y-yeah I'm fine."
"Chris you're stuttering again, so something must be on your mind."
As soon as Kamaal says that, I get nervous. A car pulls up in the neighborhood and slowly passes us by.
"Look I'm just a little stressed out. It's nothing I can't handle."
"Ok, I'll see you tomorrow then."
Before Kamaal walks off I grab his arm.
"Wait....c-c-can you spend the night with me? I don't wanna be alone."
"Yeah, sure. Anything for you." Kamaal says
Kamaal and I walk inside and head up to my room. Kamaal strips down to his shorts and slowly crawls in the bed with me. I lay my head on his chest as he wraps his arm around me.
"So tell me what's really goin on with you."
I sit up and look deep in his eyes. I can tell he is really concerned about me. I wipe my hand across my face and prepare to tell him what's going on.
