Chapter 45: B.F.F
*Chris's POV*
After a long, grueling day of school, I really wasn't in the mood for practice. Part of me wanted to send a group text telling the team to go home, but we really have to get this show together. I make my way inside the cafeteria and see the rest of the steppers socializing and joking around before practice starts.
"Bruh, yo legs are ashy as hell!
"Don't play me. I was wearing jeans today, so that's why lotion was out of the question."
"Well you're at practice now, so please apply some cocoa butter or somethin to those legs of yours. You really look like Mr. Brown."
Everyone in the cafeteria erupts in laughter. I take the time to call the team to attention and start practice. Once I do that, everyone gathers around the middle of the floor with their fists together locked in place.
"Let me just take this time to congratulate y'all on a great season we've had so far. I just received word from our advisor that we were invited to a step classic in Atlanta."
"ATL, here we come!" Trey yells
As soon as I mention Atlanta, everyone gets excited.
"But the issue we have is that it's the same day of the championship."
"Dang. So what if we don't make it to the championship?"
"Not to he big headed or anything, but I'm pretty sure we will go again this year."
"True, cause the teams we've been goin against lately ain't really no competition."
"That doesn't mean we have to stop doing what we're doing now. Tiara and I have been looking at the tapes of our last few shows, and we wanna run some changes with y'all. Some steps will be taken out and we're gonna replace them with new ones. It will fit the theme better. Now get into the beginning positions."
As everyone scrambles to their beginning spots, I look over at Trey but he quickly looks away. I know I was pissed off at him, but this has been going on a little bit too long. I miss my best friend. We get ready to run through the show while Trey and I exchange glances at each other.
*Trey's POV*
While Chris is basically lecturing us about the show, I honestly tuned him out. After I heard we couldn't go to ATL, I didn't really hear anything after that. Shoot I was already making plans in my head. I guess we're about to make a change in the show, but I'm still locked in my position while our captains are trying to get my attention.
'Trey....Trey....T. SLAUGHTER!"
When I heard my step nickname I snap out my trance.
"Damn boy what is wrong with you? Take two steps to the left behind Kevin, and that's your new position." Chris says
As I'm moving to my new position, Chris shakes his head and laughs at me. We continue going through practice with all the changes and run the new show 4 times. Before we know it, practice is over.
"Great job today y'all. Remember to pay your dues before the end of this week. Dismissed."
As I turn around to get my stuff Chris calls me.
'Yo Trey."
"Wassup Chris?"
"What are you about to do after practice?"
"I was gonna go to the game but I don't know if I wanna go."
'No come. I'm going, and it can give us a chance to talk."
