Chapter 46: Guess Who's Back?
*Kamaal's POV*
Tonight we have another game. This is the second game I've been to since my injury. Instead of layin in bed all night, I decided to put on my team sweats and go show them some support while they do their thing in the playoffs. I still can't believe Jamal and Michael's melon head asses set me up. Here I was thinkin that I really fell, but they staged the whole thing. I gotta give it to him though. They planned that shit effectively, but Jamal got somethin comin to his ass. After getting myself ready, I hear a horn outside, and it's my homeboy Demetri. I gather my backpack and crutches, and attempt to go downstairs. I make it halfway down, and Demetri calls my phone. I take the phone out my pocket and answer it.
"Hello?"
"Damn nigga where you at?" Demetri asks
"Man I'm tryin to make my way downstairs now."
"Awww, are you having trouble gettin downstairs? Do you need some help?" Demetri asks as he laughs
"Ayye fuck you bruh. But yeah, I could use it."
"Aight I'll be right there."
Demetri hangs up the phone. A few minutes later, I plop down on the stairs and wait for him. Eventually I hear the door open.
"Bruh, it don't take that long to get to the door from the driveway."
"I know, I just thought it would be funny to let you suffer for a few minutes."
"Man, y'all need to find a hobby or somethin, cause y'all ain't funny."
"Sorry man, I'm just taking advantage of the situation. Now get your pitiful lookin ass up and lets go."
Demetri reaches out his hand. I grab it and he helps me up. It literally took us forever to get downstairs because Demetri's clown ass is laughin at me limp the entire time.
"Damn bruh, you are lookin like one of those really old grandfathers on tv right now."
"Shutup D. You ain't right!"
"Aight pops. Put your seatbelt on. I promise I'll drive slow."
And when he said slow, he really meant it. This nigga was really goin 10 miles per hour. I slap him on the back of his head and he laughs.
"Come on man...."
"Ok sorry man. I'm done. I swear."
"I should've called coach to pick me up."
"Woah, do you want your other leg broken? You know damn well his ass can't drive." Demetri says
"This is true. He be all over curbs and shit."
Demetri and I continue talkin and jokin around until he pulls up to the school. I'm really dreadin gettin out the car cause I know his ass is gonna laugh at me again.
"Aight go ahead. Let it out."
"Nah I'm good. I got my laugh for the day."
Demetri hands me my crutches and we go inside the gym. Nobody hasn't arrived, but it's a few hours before game time. We part ways once we hit the gym. I look over and see my baby talkin with Myra and Trey.
"Kamaaaaaaal!!!!! Hi boo!!!"
Myra is really a trip. She gives me a friendly hug.
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm still in pain, but I'm good."
"Are you sure? Do you need-"
"Damn Myra, he just broke his leg. It ain't like he got a flesh eating virus or something." Trey says as he laughs
