Chapter 26: He's Back
As usual in the gym, the same thing is going on. Typical basketball game, typical gossip, typical shit. Myra, Trey and I are hanging by the bleachers talking as usual.
"So what do you plan to do at practice today?" Trey says as he tosses a basketball in the air
"Just go over the fundamentals again and really put my foot down. Some of them act like they never stepped before."
"Thats true. I'm not settling for second place anywhere we go."
"For real. I'm not about to marked as the captain that broke our undefeated history."
"Y'all are somethin else. At least us cheerleaders don't have to worry about that." Myra says
"Of course y'all dont. It's not like y'all go anywhere." Trey says
"I detected a little bit of shade."
"It's cool, I'll take the loss for that one. Kudos to you Trey. You finally came back!" Myra says
"Y'all, tell me why Jamal wrote me another note."
"That nigga did what?"
Kamaal walked right into the conversation as soon as those words flew out my mouth.
'He wrote me another note earlier today."
"And you didn't tell me? Where the fuck that nigga at?"
"Don't worry about it bae. I ripped it up and threw it away. He's not even worth it."
"Yeah boo, don't even sweat it. There's no need for you to slide him halfway around the school like last time." Myra says
"But did you see how epic that shit was though? I swear that nigga flew past a whole set of lockers!" Trey says
"Yeah that shit was funny"
"It was fun doin it too. Look bae, if he writes you another note, you let me know."
"But-"
"What I just say?" Kamaal says as he gives me a serious look
"Yaaas daddy...take control." Myra says
"I promise I will."
"Cool."
Kamaal gives me a kiss on the cheek, and runs back to the basketball game. I call him back over and he runs back.
"Shouldn't you be saving your energy for tryouts?"
"Bae I'll be good. I'm just gettin warmed up."
Kamaal walks away and rejoins his game.
"So why didn't you wanna talk about the note around Kamaal?" Myra asks
"It's not that I didn't wanna tell him, I just didn't want him to get mad."
"Well he didn't blow up like you thought he would."
"Yeah, you're just looking into it too much." Trey says
"Are you gonna tell him the next time Jamal writes you a note?"
"I don't have much of a choice at this point." I say as I shrug my shoulders
Before I know it, the bell rings. I kiss Kamaal and wish him luck on his tryout, and head to step team practice.
*Kamaal's POV*
So apparently, that pussy nigga Jamal is writin my baby notes again. I'll let that shit slide this time, but next time I'm goin ham on that ass. Clearly he didn't learn his lesson from the ass whoopin I gave him. I'm beyond pissed at this point. He knows Chris is mine now, and he's disrespectin me like that? Cool, I got somethin for his ass later. I'm shooting around with some other guys trying out. I look towards the end of the gym and see that fuck nigga Jamal come inside. HELL NAH BRUH!!! I know his punk ass ain't tryin out for the team. It's taking everything in me not to knock this niggas lights out. As we're still shooting around, the basketball coach comes in and blows his whistle.
"Everyone sign this roster, and line up against the wall."
I sign the roster right after Jamal does. I shoot his the meanest mug I could and bump him "accidentally" on his shoulder. This is gonna be one interesting tryout. GAME ON BITCH!!!
