Peace Out Olympus

Rachel let me go just as we reached Chiron. His deep brown eyes and tapping hooves proved that whatever Rachel had said, was not good.
Hera stared at me with her challenging eyes.
"What was the prophecy?", I asked, and Chiron sighed.
"You may want to sit down for this.", he said, and gestured to the wooden table beside us. Somehow Gerald had found his way to the table, munching on the cupcake display. Hera looked at him with disgust.
"Shoo!", she whipped out a peacock feather and tossed Gerald off the table.
"Why is Hera here?", I asked.
"Terra, there's something about the prophecy that wasn't very promising...", Rachel avoided my question.
"An unclaimed child will claim Olympus.", Hera crossed her arms as if she had accomplished something.
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"It means you will overthrow Zeus.", Rachel explained. I shook my head.
"How can you be sure it's even me? I'm not the only unclaimed child."
"Terra, I know it's hard to accept. You know everything's been linked to you.", Chiron said calmly, but he seemed very nervous around Hera.
"Zeus needs to be told of her.", Hera said.
I'm not sure why, but I already hated her. She had this strange vibe. Kind of like a black van that drives around the same block for hours. You know they're just not good people.
"We can not, Hera. The rest of the prophecy won't be fulfilled if Zeus had found out.", Chiron said quietly, and Rachel nodded.
"It's the only chance we have to defeat Typhon again. It wasn't a walk in the park last time, either.", she said. She must've been part of the Titan War, too.
"Is anyone else involved with the prophecy?", I asked. There was no way I'd be doing this by myself.
Chiron nodded.
"Your friends, Terra. Nathan and Clare...", he trailed off and glanced at Rachel, which wasn't a good sign.
"We'll tell them as soon as we can. You guys leave by morning-"
"How come you haven't told me the prophecy?", I asked. I'm pretty sure a prophecy would at least help me figure out how to stop Typhon.
Rachel hesitated, and Hera slammed her fist on the table, scaring away Gerald from the desert table again.
"We need you to trust us.", Chiron said. I didn't trust them, but I also didn't want to argue.
Why are they hiding the prophecy from me?
"I trust you.", I said, and stood up. Hera held eye contact with me one last time before I walked into the dancing crowd again.

The party ended later that night, and we were all sent to our luxurious cabins. I heard Nico snoring softly somewhere in his bed. The silence and darkness of the cabin made me feel eerie.
I wondered how long Camp Half Blood usually stayed in Olympus. I wondered if the gods did this just to pretend like they care.
I turned onto my side, shaking away thought of my mom.
I wonder if the gods cared about their children. I wonder if all these campers risk their lives, not even getting much attention from their godly parents.
I wonder if it was worth losing your life for a parent who will live on for eternity.
My thoughts overwhelmed me.
I silently crept out of bed and out of the cabin. The nightly breeze and constellations in the sky greeted me as I took a walk around Olympus. No lights were on, nobody was out.
I walked toward the main water fountain, and Ostrya's seed had grown into a skinny little tree, right next to Demeter's statue. I smiled to myself, because sometimes you just need something to smile about. Even if your life could totally end the next day.
Positivity at its finest.
I took a seat at the edge of the water fountain, listening to the water fall off the top of the statues and into the donut stream of water around them.
I heard a crackle of a footstep, and in the moonlight Nathan's tired face appeared. He had a mischievous smile that made my heart fly.
Seriously, what's wrong with me?
"Me and Clare heard about the prophecy.", he said, taking a seat next to me. He rubbed his tired blue eyes and pushed back his matted brown hair.
"We leave tomorrow morning, so I suggest sleeping.", I felt a yawn coming in.
"I'd rather talk. I can't sleep.", he sighed.
"I saw you kissing Clare the other day.", I really wish I could've smacked myself right then and there. I noticed Nathan's face turned into confusion. He was sixteen like Clare, but in the moment he probably felt like a five year old getting scolded.
"I wasn't with Clare yesterday. I think I would've remembered kissing her.", he chuckled, raising an eyebrow at me. I felt my cheeks turning red.
"Oh...must've been someone else...", I tried to avoid embarrassing myself even more. But I was almost positive that it was him.
"Would you be jealous if I kissed Clare?", he teased, and I punched him on the shoulder.
"I'm not that low. You guys are my friends. It doesn't matter what happens. We can trust each other with anything.", I looked away from him, trying to calm down my red face.
"Uh huh.", he pushed a hand through his hair and stood up.
"You should get some sleep.", he suggested, and I nodded.
"I'll come back to the cabin in a bit.", I said, my voice trailing off. He smirked again.
"Goodnight goddess.", he teased, disappearing into the night.
I guess there's always something to smile about.

I stopped smiling once morning came. I had no dreams about the black figure, and no last minute hesitation about going off on this dangerous quest.
Not many campers were there to greet us at the elevator doors. Chiron stood tall next to Rachel, along with Grover, Nico, and Will.
Gerald came running from one of the cabins.
"I am ready!", he barked with joy.
Yes, I made the decision of letting Gerald come along, only because he wouldn't give me a choice. He ripped, like, four pairs of my jeans to get here. Chiron and Rachel didn't seem to mind.
"Be careful.", Will said, and gave me a tight hug. I smiled, but Nico looked depressed. More depressed than usual.
Children of Hades can sense death.
I shook that from my mind and hugged him, surprised he didn't reject it. I then turned to Grover and Chiron.
"Remember everything I taught you.", Grover patted my shoulder.
"You literally taught me nothing.", I said.
"It's not like you'd remember it, anyway.", he smiled and it brought back memories of English class. Things really did change.
Chiron wished us the best, but he seemed worried, just like everybody else. The person who really scared me the most was Rachel.
Her green eyes were a mix of emotions. She was trying to hide them all.
I pulled her into a hug, hoping she'd know I was going to be okay.
She didn't look any less worried when I pulled away.
"Good luck.", she said quietly. I thanked her and spun around with Nathan, Clare and Gerald. We walked into the elevator, and as the doors closed, I couldn't help but think of what Rachel said.

She said 'good luck' as if it were her last 'goodbye'.
