TERRA
"Sausage! Lots of it!" Gerald's German accent sounded like a nightmare in the darkness of sleep. I slowly opened my eyes to the view of a stone ceiling. Carvings were ingrained in the grey stones; carvings of what looked as ancient romans off to battle, carrying their dead, and caring for the survivors of war.
Ah, the reminder of death as a possibility is so sweet!
I reached to rub my sleep-deprived eyes and sat up slowly, my head spinning and twisting my vision. The ache made me rub my temples until I could focus on my surroundings. I sat comfortably in a small hospital bed within a grey and red stoned wall infirmary room. And of course, not to forget the light of my life, Gerald the German guard dog took a comfy seat on my lap.
"TERRA!" He let out barks of happiness, licking my face and frolicking around the bed.
"I'm alive, sadly enough." I smirked and rubbed my forehead. My hands instead found a white bandage on the corner of my forehead.
I wonder if they saw my golden ichor blood. They can't find out about that. At least not yet. Don't wanna ruin my first impression toward deadly Roman people.
"Do not worry, goddess, they haven't suspected a thing. I've watched over you.", Gerald said, as if he read my mind. He stood tall and proud, but I hated him whenever he called me goddess. It's becoming a thing now, and I hate it.
Before Gerald could say anything else, the infirmary door swung open and revealed a woman and two large dogs, maybe three times the size of Gerald. And what did Gerald the Guard do? He whimpered and scrambled into the corner of the room.
Me too buddy. Me too.
I turned back to face the woman, but also noticed that her dogs weren't even real. They seemed metallic like, one the color of gold, and the other was silver.
Seems like a deadly duo.
Once the women approached the bed, I realized that she wasn't much older than me. She had long braided black hair, with dark eyes and eyebrows that seemed to always slant aggressively. She stood with such roman posture and dressed in purple and white roman attire. So, she was basically the definition of roman. Her brown eyes made me wanna cower in a corner too.
"I believe you are the one named Terra," Reyna's voice was steady.
"Yes." I replied. I kept my eyes locked with hers, trying to also seem less-cowardly. "And you are?"
She remained silent for a moment, and I thought she was going to run her sword right through me.
"Reyna Ramírez-Arellano. Praetor of Camp Jupiter." Her hands laid silently on a sword that was strapped to a belt on the waist of her body.
Camp Jupiter? Is this another Camp Half-Blood?
Then I suddenly remembered what I was here for. I remembered my quest.
"The boy I came with, Nathan, is he okay?" I asked, but Reyna's expression remained the same.
"He still hasn't woken up yet." She spoke, her dogs stepped around the room, once in a while sniffing at Gerald as he whimpered. "I need answers before I allow you to roam our ground." She continued.
I noticed her face was deprived of sleep, but also something about her seemed almost desperate for a break.
"I'll give you answers if you tell me where I am."
"You're in New Rome. This is Camp Jupiter, the Camp of Roman demigods. Are you familiar with Camp Half-Blood?" She tilted her head.
I nodded. "In fact, I came here because of a quest. It's a long story-"
"What are you in quest for?", she asked, and my mind went blank.
What was I in quest for? Oh yeah, THEY NEVER TOLD ME THE DAMN PROPHECY.
This quest was suppose to help us find a way to defeat Typhon before he rises. So far, all we did was lose a friend.
"Apparently Typhon is rising again and my friends and I are suppose to...I don't know honestly. They never told us the prophecy.", I blinked nervously, and Reyna sighed.
"Come with me. We might be able to find you your prophecy." She turned around and walked toward the door.
"I hate those things." Gerald barked, and I stepped out of bed.
Reyna spun around and stared at Gerald.
"Your dog friend talks too much." She muttered and continued out the door.
I was still in my pajama pants and t-shirt from last night. All our quest stuff were still in the damn hotel room. Maybe my chain was all I needed. I grabbed Gerald's long black and brown body, and left the room.
