I wasn't sure what was stranger. The fact that Reyna had been uncompromising in the Senate, or the fact that Terra had somehow gotten take-out food while being detained.
One thing's for sure; Terra never disappoints.

Reyna was stubborn enough as it was, her dark eyes locked on the chain that held the door to Terra's room shut. We had walked through a large and fragile building that was located on the west side of Camp Jupiter. The walls were made of rock and were edged at the surface. The building was a squeeze and carried dim lights through the hallway, giving it an eerie and electrical scent.

I paused for a moment, watching Reyna contemplate the decision of opening the door as if it what was behind it was life threatening.

"Reyna, why are you so hesitant?" I asked, and immediately regretted it. Once Reyna turned to face me with a stern look, I made a mental reminder to sleep with one eye open.

"Besides breaking one of the most ancient and important buildings in this camp? You and your friends have caused enough trouble as it is-" She stopped herself, noticing her sharp spear right under my throat. I could hear Gerald growl in a low gurgling voice at Reyna. She removed the spear from under my chin, and a glimpse of regret flashed across her face.

"As soon as we get Terra, we can talk this through. Reyna, you said you would try to help us. I promise you I'll do the same for your camp." I finally held eye contact with her. She looked away, her nostrils flaring as she probably wished she killed me while she had a chance. But then she looked back at me, and gave a firm nod.

"I would just like to know how on earth did she do that?" Reyna asked, and I had the same question on my mind.

"Listen, if I knew Terra could break the earth's crust in half, I wouldn't be afraid of anything as long as I'm with her." I crossed my arms, and for a moment Reyna's eyes lowered to view them.

"I don't think I trust you and your friend not to break anymore buildings..." she mumbled and unlocked the door, revealing Terra on the inside of the dusty and graffitied room.

She was talking to the wall, holding a take-out box of Chinese food.

Why am I not surprised?

"Is that Chinese food? Is there any sesame chicken?" Gerald wiggled his small smooth black and brown body between Reyna's and mine, prancing toward Terra.

Terra, on the other hand, looked wild. Her brown hair was dominated by puffy curls that hung below her shoulders. Her green eyes were wide and anxious, almost as if she's seen some dark shit. The shirt and jeans she had worn new just this morning were torn and dirtied worse than the time she had fought a fury in a grocery store. That memory seemed distant to me, like it had happened years ago.

For some reason, because of her wild and dirty complexion, I couldn't help but smile. She flashed a grin back, sending a sensation of warmth around my arms.

"Mind I ask why you're speaking to the wall?" Reyna asked.

"Well, when you lock someone up for so long-"

"It's been an hour, Terra." Reyna face palmed.

"Some camp half-blood people decided to FaceTime me using the wall. They're still on Olympus, by the way." Terra turned to me, tossing the Chinese take out box onto the floor. Gerald, wagging his tail with delight, proceeded to eat it.

Reyna muttered something under her breath, and I caught the name Jason. It wasn't a name I was familiar with.

"Let's finish business together, shall we?" Reyna marched out of the doorway.

I approached Terra and helped her stand up from the ground.
"You know, we got a lot to talk about." I whispered.
"Trust me, I know." She replied.
She took a step toward Reyna as she made her way out of the room. Reyna looked back at me with a not-so-friendly look on her face.
Oh gods, please don't let Terra lose her cool again.
