Athena's Vase

I had to blink twice once Plutus spun around in his metal chair, a harpy standing on the arm rest. He looked like a human, blonde hair slicked back with a black and white tuxedo and a golden bow tie flashing around his neck. His raybands were also golden, and a godly smile flashed on his face.
I felt like we've reached the X on a treasure map; a golden glory, decorated with so many shiny things. I wonder how much of this stuff Plutus actually earned.
Is it sad I can relate that to mortals too?
"Who's the mortal?", he scowled at Clare. She flashed a charming smile back.
"You resemble your mother.", he murmured quietly. I couldn't agree more with him.
The red and golden feathered Harpy stared at me with its deep black eyes, and I had a minor flashback to the day I went to Olympus
"Clare, daughter of Athena.", she introduced herself.
"As ironic as it is", Clare began, "we need something from you."
Plutus raised an eyebrow.
"Is this one of those Pranks On Olympus episodes?", he asked suspiciously.
"No, but that sounds-"
"They're hilarious.", he interrupted Clare.
"Last episode Zeus took an arrow in his quarters when he pranked Artemis by leaving her godly toilet seat up.", he chuckled, but I only got more frustrated.
Definitely searching that on YouTube when I can.
"Sounds great, but that's not what we came here for.", I said.
"We've heard a lot about someone named Typhon..."
Plutus froze, and I felt like his raybands were going to explode in the next moment. He slowly pulled them away from his face, revealing golden eyes almost as rich as the treasure surrounding us.
"Yes...I know who that is...", he blinked, as if he was waiting for something.
"Okay, and?", I pressed on, but Clare leaned near me.
"He's the god of greed. He wants something in return.", she whispered, and I sighed.
Sometimes Clare makes me feel like an absolute idiot.
"One moment.", I held my finger up, and he nodded as if this has happened all too often.
Clare and I spun around to face away from him.
"We are broke. The only money left is the money for our food and I am not cutting Gerald's portions.", I said, my heart pounding. I felt so sick. We were stuck.
Clare probably sensed my anxiety and gripped my hand like she'd done so many times before.
And every time she did, I felt calm again.
"Just think for a moment, Terra.", her grey eyes stared into mine, and all I could think about was Athena.
Athena.
What about Athena?
"I have something.", I pulled my hand away from hers and pried open my backpack, revealing Athena's broken vase.
Who said if it's broken it's useless?
"Where'd you get that?", Clare raised an uncertain eyebrow at me, but I felt like I could sell this off.
I spun back around to face Plutus, and changed my expression to heart break.
"Well...I never wanted to give away Athena's masterpiece...", I said. Clare stared at the beautifully hand crafted pieces of the vase in my hands.
Plutus only chuckled.
"It's not even golden. It has no value.", he crossed his arms and spoke convincingly, but I could sense that he wanted to know more.
"Yeah...yeah you're right. It's not golden.", I used reverse psychology on Plutus, and Clare caught on quickly.
"Athena's gonna kill you if you ever gave that to him anyway. It's way too dangerous.", she said, caressing one of the pieces in her hand.
"Dangerous? How?", Plutus sat up in interest, and I gulped.
"It's enchanted. An enchantment that no one can detect, but it has saved many lives throughout history. Like how Zeus defeated Typhon the first time...that was because of this vase.", Clare lied perfectly, and I tried my best not to high five her in the moment.
Plutus's jaw basically dropped once she mentioned Typhon.
"Lies. Squawk!", the Harpy flapped its wings, but Plutus shoved it off the chair, plucking a few golden feathers from it.
"I want it.", he banged his fists on the table in front of him.
"And you can have it in exchange for everything you know about Typhon. And I mean everything.", I compromised, and he nodded.
Clare silently stared at me as I caressed the broken pieces of Athena's vase in my hand.
"Talk.", I ordered.
Plutus rumbled on about how Typhon had rose up against Olympus twice; once in the BCE Era, and once two years ago when Percy Jackson had helped to defeat him. "Immortals, like you and I, we can't be destroyed. Same goes for Typhon. It took him thousands of years to build up the power to wage war two years ago. But now..."
"It only took him two years. He's growing stronger every second.", Clare's grey eyes reminded me of a calculator as she thought it silence.
"He's growing stronger because he's not alone...", she froze with her words.
"It's a terrible thing.", he sighed, stopping his story.
"What is?", I asked, approaching his table. Clare grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"We have to leave.", she demanded. But Plutus's harpey flew its way to the door, shutting it.
I turned back to face Plutus.
Maybe I was fully immortal, so I couldn't die, right?
If I was wrong, as usual, then I'll die. What are my chances?
"I can no longer help you.", he grinned maliciously, and my heart sank as I realized what happened.
We fell right into his trap.
