Margaret
Two months has passed since I miscarried one of my babies. In that time, Vin has been more than caring. He's stuck with me through my mood swings, he bought me food, and he helped me pick out maternity clothes because my stomach is getting bigger.
Right now I was on the couch watching T.V, wearing only a bra, a baggy knit sweater and shorts that ended mid-thigh. I was going to be in the house all day, so it didn't matter.
"Vin!" I called out. When there was no answer, I yelled, "Vincent, babe!" When he still didn't answer, I yelled his name really loud.
He came running in the room, out of breath. "Yes, babe? Is something wrong? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Can you give me the remote?" I said, pointing to the remote that was just out of my reach.
"But you're- Here you go," he said, hanging the remote to me.
"I love you," I said. "Can I have some junk pizza?"
"I love you too, Meg. And yes, I'll order you a junk pizza," he said. He called the pizza place and ordered a junk pizza.
"Thanks, babe." I gestured him over and kissed his lips. "You're the best."
He kissed me back. "I know."
"Oh, I have a present for you," I said, trying to get up. Vin helped me up and walked with me to Mom's room. I picked up the ultrasound pictures and handed them to him. "Here you go," I said softly.
His eyes filled with tears. "Are these our babies?" he said, smiling at the pictures.
"Yes they are," I said. "Can you see that?"
"What?"
I pointed to the baby on the left. "That's a boy." I pointed to one on the right. "That's a girl."
He smiled bigger. "One of each, huh?"
"Yeah. This ultrasound was the day you went to work, and since it was your first day, I knew you couldn't cancel or get the day off. So, here you go."
He pulled me into a hug. "They're beautiful."
"I know they are. I'm their mother, after all."
He laughed. "You're the best girlfriend and best best friend ever."
The doorbell rang while we were hugging, so I pulled back and let him look at the pictures. I went to the front door and saw the pizza guy standing there.
"Wow, Noah, I didn't know you were a pizza delivery guy," I said.
"I want to make my own money instead of getting it from my parents," he said, handing me the pizza. His eyes landed on my stomach and his eyes practically bulged out of his head. "Y-you're pregnant?"
I smiled. "Yeah. With twins."
"I did not expect that. How far along are you?"
I rubbed my stomach with my free hand. "Six months."
"Congrats and good luck."
"Thanks. Oh, I gotta pay for the pizza,"
I said, digging in my shorts pocket for money."It's on me," he said.
I smiled. "Thanks, Noah. Also, can you not tell anyone, please?"
He nodded. "As you wish."
He walked back to his car and drove away. I closed the door and dug into the pizza when I got back to the couch.
Vin walked out wiping his eyes. "Can I keep these?" he asked.
I nodded. "They're for you, anyway."
"Can we talk about baby names?"
I patted the seat next to me. "Yeah, sure."
"So, I was thinking either Keira, Corinne, or Mira for our baby girl."
"Keira is out of the question, sorry. I don't like that name. I do like Mira, however. It sounds perfect."
"So, Mira Lynn Jameson?"
I shook my head. "Not Lynn, either. How about... Elizabeth for her middle name?"
"Mira Elizabeth Jameson... Perfect," he said. "Just like our baby."
"What about boy names?" I said.
"Hmm...I don't know yet."
"Me neither," I said.
"We can always think about it later," Vin offered.
I nodded. "Yeah. That would probably be the best thing."
"What should we do now?" he said.
"Hey, do you think the cops ever found Patricia?" I said.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "Nah. She left with Grey a long time ago. She was only here to ruin our lives by killing our baby. Little did she know we had two more on the way."
"Did she leave the country?"
"Yeah. She called me and told me she's never coming back. I blocked her number once and for all."
"Good...Wait I though you did that a while ago?"
He shook his head. "I was gonna, but I didn't get more calls from her so I figured she was done being a stalker."
"Like you said before, what should we do now? I have no idea what to do," I said.
"I have an idea," he suggested.
I elbowed him. "We can't. I'm pregnant."
He sighed. "Buzz kill."
"I love you?"
"Why did that sound more like a question?"
"Because it was." I stood up and began walking away.
"Come back here! I'll tickle you to death!"
So I ran from him.
