He signed a one year contract with me just in case I suck.

When we were in the middle of signing, the team came in and started trying to talk him out of it. I just sat there while they bitched, and eventually he told them to get out or they were getting traded.

He asked me for a phone number and I told him I don't have a phone.

He wasn't happy with that, and I had to explain that I'm dirt broke.

I don't even have access to an email.

I don't even have a TV. I pay for electric and water and my rent.

Even then, my bill is usually late all the time.

It's March 5th and today is my first practice.

They added a woman's shower and they gave me the uniform and everything.

I'm so happy I want to cry.

I worked so hard to get here. I have the cleats and everything.

I'm dressed and we're in the field, and I know exactly now, why they put me on the team.

I get to stand and watch.

And that's what I do.

I stand and I watch as these guy practice.

I'll get on that field one way or another.

The guys are grumbling the whole time, pissed off I'm even here.

I just watch.

<><>

We had practice every day for two and a half weeks, and it's our first game today. We're playing against the Baltimore Orioles. It's at our stadium.

I'm nervous.

The guys are hyped up. They're talking about some party afterwards.

They don't so much as glance at me.

We all change and get ready and have a team meeting, one I'm not even mentioned in, and then we go out.

And they leave me in the dugout with two other guys.

With my two least favorite players on the team.

The news has been going crazy about me and calling the Yankees a pussy team.

That's really been pissing the guys off.

It's been pissing me off too.

So I sit through the game.

The Orioles are vicious.

They're keeping up with us. The score is tied and then one of us gets a point, but the other team soon catches up.

It could be a tied game.

I don't want a tied game.

I want to fucking win.

They're flying through all our players, getting all of them outs, but we're doing the same to them.

I'm pissed.

We're in the ninth inning.

The score is finally six for us and four for them.

But the team is only left with the three of us.

Coach calls for a timeout.

He comes into the dugout with the team following him.

They're all sweaty and covered in clay.
