Judgement

Sorry everything lately has been in Cory's P.O.V.  its just he's a more dynamic character then Frisk and has more happening to him.  I'll incorporate more Frisk in the next chapter!

Cory P.O.V.

Sans stood there with that bone chilling smile on his face. His comedic act was gone and was replaced by a deathly serious monster. (I guess you could say hes a skeleton of his former self!)

"Heya, I see you've made it pretty far, havent ya?" He winked at us. "Your journey's almost complete, in just a few moments you'll meet the King."

I guess that means he's not going to kill us!

"But that's then. Now, you will be judged. You will be judged for your every action, thought, and malicious intent." Sans gave me a little glare at that statement making me wilt a little inside.

"I understand the fact of self defense, I understand accidents. But when you kill for a certain goal, or achievement," Sans shuddered a little, "THAT I can't stand." Sans turned his gaze to face Frisk.

"Frisk, throughout your journey you have managed not to hurt anything. When you ran away, you ran away with a smile. Through your example you even managed to help Cory deal with the demon inside of him."

Frisk looked at me with confusion on her face. Well that's new.

"Now I'm not saying you never thought about killing, or didnt have any malicious thoughts. I'm just saying you managed to keep a level head and do what was right when it came down to it."

Sans turned to face me and I could feel his eyes boring into my soul.

"Now Cory. You're a little different, arn't ya?" Sans have a laugh that lacked happiness and instead sent shivers down my spine.

"At the beginning of your journey you were clouded with emotion. Kill or don't kill? It didnt help that you had a demon inside you trying to persuade your body to kill. You fought it the best you could, but in the end you failed. Personally if I were you I would've thrown in the towel by now, but you have something unique about you."

Sans paused to think of what to say.

"You have something called determination. Frisk, you have it too."

I know I have determination, It's saved me a few times already.

"Alone, Cory's soul's determination is weaker then yours Frisk. But that's not the case now, is it?"

What was that supposed to mean? Suddenly my brain flashed back to an image of a heart, with three different colors in it.

"Cory, you have three souls inside of you. One is from the demon, Chara. One is from Frisk. The other is yours."

"You got Chara's soul from killing a monster. Once you killed the monster a part of your soul died, allowing Chara's to become a part of your soul. You gained Frisk's soul that day in the dumps. You had just killed a monster and Frisk somehow healed your soul. Do you remember that?"

How could I not? That was one of the strangest things to ever happen to me.

Frisk was looking at me with wonder.

"With these three souls inside of you, you are considered the most powerful being in the entire world. The three souls inside you just happen to all be part of the most determined humans in the world, making you the most determined being in the world. They also make you the weakest being in the world."

"In case you havent noticed, you've become incredibly weak over the past few days. This is the result of your soul dying."

At this point I was totally focused on what Sans was saying, blocking out the rest of the world.

"Over the past few battles you have done something called blinking. Or what you call Flickering. Everytime you ficker you are shown a miniature dream, basically shattering the nature of the world."

"But the only reason your body can see these images is by being so determined that you break through the boundary of reality and dream. In most cases when you're about to die."

I nodded my head in recognition. Thats pretty much the only time I flickered.

"Since your original soul is the weakest of the three inside your soul, the effort is a little to much for it. The effort from flickering slowly kills your original soul, allowing the other two to take more and more control. Right now your original soul is making up only a fraction of your whole soul. One more flicker or large burst of determination could very well kill it."

"From there the two souls left in your body would fight for control. I truely dont know if the souls would be able to control your body after your soul dies. In case you havent figured this out, this hasnt ever happened to anyone before. Your body could potentially just dissapear, killing the two souls with it."

"All I know is that Chara's soul wants yours killed as quickly as possible and is helping with the death of your soul. Frisk's soul is less agressive but has also killed parts of your soul. But she couldn't help that."

Sans stopped talking and winked at us, his smile returning to his face.

"Now that we're done with that little chat you must go and complete the hardest decision of your lives. If you kill Asgore you'll be able to leave. But Frisk would have to kill him. If Cory killed him his soul would immediatly die. If you kill him and leave you would also keep all the friends you've made down here trapped."

"If you decide not to kill him you will most likely be killed yourself. Either that or you'll be trapped down here forever." Sans paused.

"Any questions?" Oh boy. That was a lot to take in on one sitting, or standing. I didnt know about Frisk but I had plenty of questions. But one definalty stood out above the others.

"Hey Sans, you said Chara's soul was killing mine even when I wasnt using determination, right?" Sans nodded his head.

"Well if we do somehow manage to have the happy ending. Somehow free the monsters without killing Asgore and we all make it to the surface, what will happen to me? Will my soul still die from Chara's?"

I hoped that there was a way. I thought that surely Sans, the skeleton with all the answers, had figured out a way to save me.

Instead of saying anything he looked at the ground, his smile fading from sight.

"Oh." I said, feeling tears form in my eyes.

I looked at Frisk to see that she, like me, was about to cry.

"It's ok." I whispered as a tear fell down my face. She ran into my outstretched arms and I tried to comfort her as much as I could.

I have to stay strong. For Frisk.

Part of me always knew I was doomed, that I was never going to make it. Its just hearing that you were going to die was a lot worse then believing that you're going to die.

When you believe you're going to die a tiny part of your mind tells you otherwise. When you know you're going to die there is no little part of your brain saying, 'not possible'.

But why did I feel like it still wasnt possible? Why did my body still refuse to believe it? Maybe it was the determination in me.

Maybe it was Frisk.

Maybe it was my broken soul, refusing to die.

Whatever it was I believed it.

Whatever it was I knew was right.

I wasn't going to die.

I won't die.

I can't die.

I refuse.

Next chapter tomorrow!  Get ready because things are really going to be picking up!
