Niall's POV
It took a moment for me to process Harry's words. I was shocked at his reply because it seemed so far fetched, as though he had been planning to lie to me, before running off to tell his friends about it, just so they could laugh at me and abuse the fact that I was so gullible.
Had I even heard him correctly?
Yes, it was clear that he had actually said what I had heard him say. However, I didn't know why I should believe him. This was the person that tries to make my life as torturous as he possibly could, the person that hated me so much that he laughs at my pain. The pain that he caused.
Why wouldn't he make something like this up?
He hadn't shown me enough proof that I could trust him. In fact, he hadn't shown any. So why should I believe him when he tells me that someone had broken into the school?
He had been beating me up every single day because he thinks that I'm gay. He would not feel even slightly guilty about something like this. He wouldn't care about lying to me.
Before I could say anything, I felt him harshly grip my arm and pull me into the room, shutting the door behind us quickly.
"Yeah, cause I really believe anything you say, Harry," I muttered, pulling my arm from his grip. I seemed strangely confident considering I was flinching from his fist only a minute prior.
"Fine, don't believe me. I don't care. You were the one who asked. You can go out there and risk dying by some armed guy, see if I care about it. I'm just going to say this now, I fucking told you so. I may not like you but I wouldn't lie about something like this, not even to you," he snapped at me.
"Sorry that I have no trust in anything you have to say. You aren't exactly the most trusted person in my life right now," I retorted, feeling my face grow hot in irritation.
I felt Harry's gaze harden as I spoke, which meant I wasn't the only person getting annoyed.
"If I was making shit up, why the fuck would I still be here?" he asked in a rough whisper. "If there wasn't anyone out there I would fucking walk out and not have to put up with you any longer," he continued.
I didn't respond. I guess that he did have a point.
"Listen to everyone outside, Horan. Does it sound like I'm lying to you?" he asked harshly.
The two of us fell silent, the sudden quiet made it possible for me to faintly hear screaming in the distance.
Obviously Harry wasn't lying to me but I now had more urgent things to deal with, as I was I now trapped in school with Harry, who was still looking at me with the dirtiest expression he could manage.
It was either be stuck with Harry for goodness knows how long, or get found by some unknown people who would most likely kill me.
Fuck, no matter which option I chose, I was going to die.
I let out a choked noise, a mixture between a groan and a whimper and watched Harry's eyes narrowing at the sudden sound.
"Shut the fuck up!" Harry whisper yelled at me, his hand moving to harshly grip on my bicep again.
"I'm sorr--"
He slapped his hand over my mouth, silencing me from making anymore noises. I squirmed in fear when I felt his other arm move to tightly wrap around my waist.
He didn't say anything to justify his actions and I didn't try to speak, scared he would hurt me again if I even made an effort to say something, regardless of his hand still covering my mouth.
