"Have you packed your bags?"
"Yes" Dan quietly answered.
He was going to travel around the world this year. You know what they say: new year, new you. He was starting in London, then around America, South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and then back to London.
His bags were packed. Plane tickets payed for.
Everything was in place. It was time to go.
"Have a wonderful journey" his therapist said, adding farewells and good lucks after.
"Thanks for putting up with my crap. This is goodbye I guess. I hope I can see you after my trip?"
"I'd love to" she said. "Good bye, Dan"
"Yes, good bye"
Now that all the sappy stuff was out the way, Dan nervously walked into the airport. How the hell was this trip going to work? He didn't usually go outside. This was a whole new world to him.
After he got past the pain in the ass aka security, he boarded the plane and slept. This was going to be a long journey.

"Hello, this is your captain speaking. We have landed at JFK. Welcome to New York! The weather today is quite lovely! The temperature is-"
Dan groggily got up from his seat and got his bags. Economy seating was absolute shit.
"-and thank you for flying with our airways! Have a great day!"
"How perky and annoying" Dan muttered under his breath. Why was everyone around him happy? Why did he have to be different?
He quickly pushed those thoughts to the back of his head because they sounded super cliche and quite stupid tbh.
Getting his bags and going through monotonous immigration, Dan sighed pretty much the whole way. Stepping outside into the unfamiliar place, he looked around and breathed out heavily. He missed home.
"This is what's good for me" he whispered. "It's going to be okay"
"Hey, you there! Taxi?" a man's loud voice shouted at him.
"Uh yep!" Dan awkwardly shouted back.
"Where to?" the driver asked as Dan walked over and got into the taxi.
"This address please"
"Alrighty"
"You're going to be okay" Dan silently reassured himself. "Everything will be okay"
