Perfect life

It's been a few years since the twins Levi and Lauryn were born, they're 5 years old now, and Sydnie is 7 now, me and Zak are still happily married, it's amazing and scary at the same time to think we've been together for 13 years now, we've had countless ups and downs but nothing has and nothing will stop us loving each other, we know how to cheer each other up, he's an amazing dad to the kids, they love him, Lauryn and Sydnie are definitely daddy's girls and Levi is definitely mommy's boy, but obviously we love them all the same. It's crazy that they're all at school now, Levi and Lauryn are in their first year being 5 year olds, and Sydnie is doing well in her third year.

I've just picked the kids up from school and we're going home now, Zak said he'd be home early but I don't know how early, so he's probably still at work now, but he could be at home or on his way home. I look in the mirror to see that the kids are ok, Sydnie looks sad, she's not talking and she's just staring out of the window, which is quite unusual, usually she's the chatty one, I wonder what's wrong.

"Sydnie sweetheart, are you ok?" I ask as I concentrate on driving.

"Yeah sure, I'm fine" She says not looking at me once.

"Come on what's up? You can tell me" I say.

"Nothing's up, I'm fine" She says with a slightly attitude.

"Ok then, if you're sure" I say, I'll just see if Zak can talk to her later.

"She's been like this all day mommy, earlier when you were playing outside, she stayed on her own, even the teachers tried to talk to her but she walked away" Lauryn says.

"Lauryn shut your mouth you idiot" Sydnie says almost shouting.

"Hey Sydnie, don't be horrible to your sister like that, don't call her an idiot, she's just trying to help" I say calming the situation down.

"But she always has to have an input when you don't ask for it, I'm fine, so stop this" She says.

"Levi, are you ok darling?" I ask.

"Yeah I'm great mommy, school was fun, I played with my friends Harry and Milo and Sasha, we played trains" Levi says happily.

"That's great, at least you enjoyed yourself" I say. For the rest of the drive home, Lauryn and Levi talk and play a bit but Sydnie still stays quiet.

"Daddy's home!" Lauryn says excitedly as I pull into the driveway.

"He sure is, I think he's missing you guys" I say as we get out of the car. I grab their bags and they run in but Sydnie walks. I walk in the door and see Zak hugging Lauryn and Levi.

"Hey guys, I missed you today, did you have a good day at school?" He asks as they hug. They let go.

"Yeah it was great" Levi says.

"It was a good day" Lauryn says. I notice Sydnie is nowhere to be seen.

"Babe where's Sydnie?" I ask. She wasn't happy, I don't want her to run away or anything.

"She went straight upstairs, I didn't get a chance to say hi to her cause these two ran up to me, is she ok?" He asks as he hugs the twins.

"She says she is fine but she's stayed quiet and seems sad about something, I don't know how to help cause she wouldn't tell me anything" I say.

"Let me go and talk to her" He says. "Ok you two, daddy has to go and cheer up your sister, I'll be back down soon ok" He says to the twins.

"Ok daddy" Lauryn says. Zak disappears upstairs.
