"Wake up you sleepy vampire," I shake Carmilla gently, her letting out a grumpy sigh, "we've over slept and missed class" I begin to pout as Carmilla opens her eyes.

In a tired voice Carmilla speaks, "you mean to tell me you woke me up for No Reason at all, since you've Already missed class?" She says through a tired grumpy face.

"Well.." I rethink my actions, "yes" I say with an apologetic smile, "but since you're up now we could-"

"Oh no, no no no. Hollis, you woke me up when it was unnecessary, I get to make today's plans" she says a little more awake.

"But we have-"

"But nothing spaz. You're mine for the day." Carmilla sends me a sly smile before rising from bed and doing her daily routine of brushing her teeth.

I roll my eyes and collapse on the bed.
What could this mysterious vampire seductress possibly want to do that's more important than saving silas students? I guess I did owe her for all she's done for me. I'll give in.. for now..

"Get a move on cupcake," she shouts from the bathroom with what sounds like like a full mouth of water, "get dressed in some comfortable walking clothes. We're going on a hike"

I found myself laughing at the thought of me or Carmilla actually doing physical activities involving nature but I gave it no more thought and got dressed for the day.

"Carm, slow down, tiny human remember?" I say out of breath from all the climbing we had done. I can't seem to remember ever seeing any of our surroundings before. Where were we even heading? I take a seat on a near by rock and enjoy the view of the trees around.

"Sorry babe," Carmilla comes and sits beside me, "you just seemed so energetic this morning, waking me up early and all," she says with sarcasm in her voice, "I figured you could handle this." she smirks at me as I roll my eyes.

"Yeah yeah, I get it. Never wake a sleeping vampire again. Point taken. Now would you gladly tell me where we're going?"

Carmilla looks around at the view, "we're almost there, why spoil it?"

I let out a sigh, "Then I guess we should continue then?" She puts an arm around me and kisses my cheek.

"You're doing great," she smiles that warm smile she doesn't reveal often that makes me just want to melt at her side, "let's go." She snaps me out of daydreaming and helps me up so we can continue our hike.

After another half hour we finally reach our 'destination' which seems to be, nowhere?

Carmilla turns to me and smiles at my sad and confused reaction. Was this all just torture or was there a reason we hiked all the way up to the middle of nowhere?

"Your facial expressions are like windows to your thoughts sometimes, you know that, Hollis?" She smiles and puts an arm around my waist.

"What are we doing here, exactly?"

"Well I figured you'd ask that. Do you trust me?" She says as she pulls me close against her and wraps her arms completely around my waist.

I place my arms on her shoulders and wrap them around her neck, looking into her eyes I begin to see that vulnerable spark as she says again, in a gentle tone, "Do you trust me Laura?" I didn't mean to take so long to answer, I just got so lost in her soft eyes. They don't become so soft often so when they are I savor it. With a soft voice I whisper, "With my life, Carmilla."

She smiles so genuinely I swear my life could end in that moment and I'd be okay with it. She pulls me tightly against her and kisses me like she needed it. Almost like her life depended on it and I returned it with as much passion and intensity a human could possibly offer. When our lips finally let go she grabs my hand and walks me up a path of rocks.

"I'm going to show you something Laura," she says, "something that only we will know of. And this shall be our secret. Somewhere only we know." I give her a reassuring and confused smile as she lets my hand go and walks forward with her hands out in front of her. She finally stops as if her hands had hit something, wait, they had? She looks back at me and smiles going towards a big rock beside where she was standing and traces the numbers "1698" in the rock and suddenly as if out of thin air a cabin appears.

I stare at it in awe. It looked so new. So untouched. How did she know about this place?

"Before you go all Lauronica Mars on me sweetie, this is my cabin. I had it built around 1890. With my mother's spell book I was able to make a few modifications to keep it hidden. It's the only place I had secrecy. Where I could hide away from my mother's evil doings.... Where I found solitude on the days I felt I could barley keep myself sane." She looks down and I walk over to her and grab her hand, rubbing my thumb against the back of her hand. She smiles at me faintly. "If.. for any reason.. I'm not around," she pulls me close and kisses my forehead, "or I can't be with you" I frown at the thought of that but she tilts my chin up to her till I'm staring into her now glistening eyes, "you can always find me here. Right here." And with that she kisses me slowly and shortly.

We both end the kiss with a smile and she grabs my hand leading me into the cabin. It was well furnished and pretty big for my small girlfriend to sleep alone in. I'll never understand how she found peace in isolation and her books but it's a mystery I absolutely loved about her.

We got situated and had dinner in the living room watching whatever the TV could pick up. It was nice to get out of my dorm for awhile. Not having to worry about Laf or Danny popping in on us was definitely a bonus.

What did I do to deserve this girl?
