I woke up the next morning feeling a slightly sharp pain. Carmilla was still asleep so I thought I'd take the time to get dressed a little early. I cautiously moved myself from under Carmilla's arms not waking her and walk to the restroom. As I pass by the mirror I notice little blood marks on my robe. I open my robe and reveal two engravings of teeth marks and fang marks on each side of my hip bones that were starting to bruise. I lightly smile at the marks thinking about the night before but they were beginning to hurt so I decided to take a shower to clean them.

Walking out of the shower with my bra and underwear on in a robe I see Carmilla's now awake smiling at me from the bed.

"Well good morning buttercup" she sends me a tired smile and puts her arms out for me to sit with her.

"Good morning Carm," I send her a smile and go to sit on her lap. As she wraps her arms around my waist I wince at the touch of my bite marks. Carmilla notices and gives me a shocked and worried look. She places her hands inside my robes and slowly slides them over my bruised hip bones. Her facial expression drops.

"Did I.. did I hurt you?" She bites her bottom lip trying to hold back the fear she let show in her voice.

"Carm," I pull her hands from my robe and wrap them back around me, "I wanted this. You didn't hurt me, I'm just.. fragile sometimes I guess?" I laugh but Carmilla doesn't change her facial expression. I let out a sigh.

"Maybe I shouldn't... or we shouldn't.."

"Carm it's okay, really! I'm tougher than I look see?" I raise my arms to show her my 'guns'. "This one's named thunder, and this one, lightening" I stick my tongue out trying to flex the best I can.

Carmilla finally budges and laughs.

"Slow your roll babe," she laughs, "keep flexing like that and you might poke someone's eye out. Or worse, pull a 'muscle'," she emphasizes muscle in her sentence.

"If you're implying my muscles aren't big enough, you're not one to talk with your vampire strength okay?" I cross my arms. "Besides... I had to work hard for these guns. Yoga's some hard work you know?!"

Carmilla smiles and rests her head on my shoulder. "Whatever you say cutie" she whispers.

"Damn right!" I shout

"Well you tiny ball of muscle, how 'bout we get hiking back to Silas?" She looks at me, "you know... since you've got the muscle now."

I quickly regret my muscle comments when I realize carm is not going to poof us back home. Nice going hollis.

After packing our things we were off in the now slightly less lit forest. It was a little creepy but I knew I had a broody vampire by my side to protect me. We were getting close to campus and the sky was almost completely dark. Carmilla makes a sudden stop causing me to bump into her.

"Geeze Carm, if I knew you'd do that I'D be the one leading" I frown rubbing my shoulder.

"Shhh" she whispers to me.

"Hey, you were the one who made me bump into y-"

"SHHH" she emphasizes more this time. What could she be getting at? Carmilla begins sniffing the air and as if something triggered her, her eyes began to dilate into blackness.

"Uhm... Carm?" I say hesitantly.

"------" she whispers something I couldn't understand.

"W-what?" I say

"Vipers.." She says in an almost scared tone. Her eyes fade back to her original color and the ground begins to shake. She grabs my hand and we start running. She keeps closing her eyes as if trying to teleport us but we were going nowhere. Cracks in the ground began forming from underneath us and out popped a giant snake like creature right in front of Carmilla. Her first instinct was to push me with her vampire strength, sending me flying to a tree away from the creature. My back and head hits the tree hard and my sight begins to blur until I was knocked out..

Carmilla's POV:
The Viper strikes it's head at me and I grab hold before it digs it's fangs into me. I look back to see if laura's  alright while holding the viper in place. She's unconscious. What have I done... I start to get worried but the only way to help her would be to destroy this creature.

"What do you want!" I yell at the viper, hoping to get some sort of sign as to why it was attacking. It pulls it's head from my grip and looks straight at Laura.

"Oh no you don't." I grab the viper by the neck and pull it down to me. Wrapping my arms around its neck I begin to choke it. Forgetting how long it's fangs are I feel an agonizing pain in my arm. I pull my arm from its fangs and push it's head to the ground and with both feet I stomp on its head, killing the creature instantly.

Falling to the ground I could feel the venom in me. Sticking my fangs in the first huge fang hole I begin to suck it out. My body is already healing the second hole so I try to suck all the venom from one. When I felt a bit less dizzy I crawl to Laura's unconscious body and pull her to me.

I see blood coming from her hips and now the back of her head. How hard did I push her.. Without hesitation I manage to teleport us back to our room. I begin cleaning Laura's wounds and bandage them up including her head. I look down at my hands realizing this was all my fault. I was trying to protect her but instead I hurt her. Was I a monster like people would say. Was I becoming this destructive monster people made horror movies, folk tales and stories about. Why do I feel so angry. I feel my self-hatred building up until I see Laura begin to come to.

I rush back to her side and hold her hand.

"Laura, cupcake it's me. You're home. We're safe" I whisper in a sad and worried tone.

"What .. what happened?" She begins rubbing the back of her head. "Holy moely" her eyes widen, "DID I BEAT THE VIPER?"

With joyful tears in my eyes I smile and give Laura a kiss. "You sure did babe, you sure did."
